Gamebooster

The place to ask for help or solve each others technical issues and discuss hardware

Just wondering, does anyone use gamebooster? I started using it on my fairly average system and almost double my FPS and load time, it also defragged the FSX directory and sliced the loadtime again! I'm wrapped I can now average about 35-40 fps with sliders damn near maxed out!

Cheers for the info on it lowflier. I saw it a few months back and have since wondered how good it was, or whether it was just placebo! Good to hear that it actually has a decent effect.

Smooth landings

I use it and it seems to work very well.

Have just installed it. Load time went from 2:15 to 1:59 and average frame rate went from 33.5 to 60, upper frame rate remained 65-67. It shut down 20 processes on my system. Appears to work well.

That's a good result Glenn smile.gif

It won't make a pig's purse out of a sow's ear but it certainly seems to minimise background services impact on processes needed to run games, without hogging memory for itself as some other boosters seem to do.

Im having some mixed results with this. Just installed Booster to give it a go, load time much faster, usually I can get up and make a coffee while I wait for FSX to load but with game booster I don't get a chance to get out of the chair.
When I choose an aircraft I get the preview pain slowly loading from right to left take around 20 seconds but the continues to load quickly. What I have noticed is that it takes some time for the aircraft textures to load if you change view from cockpit to outside view you end up flying a white plane that slowly starts loading panels. I also experience quite a few freezes lasts around a second each time but would do it around 6 times flying from Omaka to Woodbourne.
On a slightly different note. I experience a problem with strobe lights flashing a black square around the light, I guess I am not the only one to have this problem but is there a fix? I have noticed that when useing Booster the square is white not black

I tried it on my old i7 860. Loaded faster but thats all. I seem to remember it screwing with some addon and freezing so i ditched it. Good for older systems ihave heard. i use Bo Jote's online auto cfg tweaker and thats the best I've come across sofar.

Man I wish I could make a comment like that...

It probably won't make any difference to newer systems but on my Dual Core 3 GHz with 2 gig RAM it does make some games sort of playable lol.

Depends on individual systems I guess. Another one is AlacrityPC which is worth a try as well. I don't really think I need them however these days, as my sim PC with Win XP is only running 29-30 processes plus flightsim. But if you're running a bunch more processes, then it could make a world of difference (as attested to above)
Lowglow sounds to me like you are missing a texture or effect file?

Maybe I hadn't thought about that, I'm not sure if this problem is with every aircraft I guess this may not be an easy problem to fix

But if they are all using the same default texture or effect file then it will be an easy fix winkyy.gif As it might just be one file you are missing causing them all to not work correctly if they all share use of the same file.
Figuring out exactly what file you are missing can be another story however laugh.gif
They are ways to go about fixing it. Perhaps best to start a new thread on the topic however.

I also have the black box flash around the strobe light in spot view, and have seen it on other YouTube videos too. I believe it is an ATI video card related problem but would love to find a fix!
