Possibly the final selection for now from Funcha, Madeiral. Change of winds meant a change of runway, so a dash to the other end of the airport. Still able to get great shots, and the sun was over the shoulder too. Highlight was the Fokker 100. The headland in the background is the easternmost part of Madeira, unusually brown at this time of year due to the lack of rain.

the next shot was a real surprise. On the arrivals, the flight was listed as arriving from Copenhagen, but the airline was listed as just '?'. I was very surprised to see the red of Sterling, because Sterling actually went bankrupt and ceased flying a few years ago. Seems like they are back in the air again, possibly under the Cimber group now. They also have changed their email from Sterling.dk to Sterling.eu

off to Oslo OSL tomorrow, then on Wednesday starting the trip back to CHC,

smooth landings.

Yep, the Aerosoft Madeira add-on has the elevated runway, complete with legs. Indeed, having 'flown' around Madeira in FS, it was the reason that I decided to visit it for real. Thought that it looked nice in FS so that encouraged me to visit, now on my second trip here!!

smooth landings.

I have the Aerosoft Madeira, although it is fairly old (FS2k2?).
OK this has nothing to do with NZ Aviation, but nor has the afore-going!
Taking a cue from some of the airliners pictured, I blew in to Madeira:

Active Sky had a bit of rain for the island, no doubt something of a relief.
And the scenery is not holding up too badly...

Shades of Kai Tak! Rwy 05 needs a little focussed attention

And of course, the obligatory Real vs Sim

Pass the Madeira, m'dear... and keep travelling, HT!

So what exactly is there to do on this island? Other than the airport obviously. There must be something nice going on if all these operators visit there. Thanks for the pics. Like the 757 especially.
