For every screencomp, I seem to churn out 100 "also-rans" (which I always feel sorry for) - and have loads of others I've snapped over the years which I'd like to put in one place. My Photobucket account is littered with other stuff - like debug pics etc.
What I'm hoping to try and is:
1) Rather than have a mass of random favourites - have maybe just a "Top 20", which I could move around and re-order.
2) Maybe allow for some kind of on-going voting system (eg. Google "likes", or whatever).
Of all the options available these days, is there a system where I could place pics and have them voted on? I don't think views alone would do it, as people may always just view the first 3 or so.
Thoughts, anyone?
Good idea shirley....my photobucket (main album) has over 2000, and the other 2 are up over the 100 mark....have to keep dumping and moving the pics so i can upload new stuff .
Maybe just open your own online gallery, make it public.....like a blog maybe, im not really up to speed with that type of thing
.
I cant make my account public, as i keep the pics of our last bra festival on there......and people might recognize .....YOU ..

Facebook? ;-)
This is a good call Adam, cant think of anything that has a simple feeback loop like that, usually its commenting, or tagging or fave-ing or such like.
You want something like YouTube for photos right? Be keen to hear if you do find something.
edit - Google+ does do something kinda like this, in conjunction with Picassa, but its not overly social, and mixed in with all the other contentLast edited by deeknow on Sat Feb 04, 2012 8:06 am, edited 1 time in total.Deans repaints: http://www.deeknow.com/

Not sure about Facebook ... can't see how to disable all the [unnecessary] social functions ...
Since the original posting, I've played with Flickr and Google+/Picasa. Though I could set up a gallery, neither of them had any sort of "voting feedback" loop. The difficulty is ensuring that people view the complete listing (of say 20) images before they vote - rather than simply viewing the first screenful.
Our own screencomp gets around this neatly by displaying thumbnails of *all* the entries on the actual voting screen. A case in point - I think Marty is currently winning (*******!) and his entry is last.
There are MSFS screenshot groups on Flickr. I suppose I could set up an "invite only" group and keep it small. No voting though
Another idea might be to set up a thread here on NZFF, where past screenshot winners get a topic all to their own and can post a current "Top 10" (or 20) of their favourite images. Maybe even a vote per topic? Could be a lot of admin work though. It could be an extra reward for banner winners.
Yet another idea is for us to have an annual poll of the previous year's 12 entries - for "The Screenshot of the Year" (has this been mentioned before, I wonder?). No prizes, maybe, just an ego-boost!Last edited by Adamski on Sat Feb 04, 2012 12:59 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Oh well, it was just a thought.

Great idea, Marty. It appears to do precisely what I've been blathering on about. I set up a gallery, but can't seem to upload to it. Does someone need to flick a switch?

Aaah (agreed) ... but Grasshoppa ... could it be "persuaded" to accept posts with links in the description and not have an actual upload? That's how I thought it'd work when I had a go just now.

No, the Gallery is a standard addon, it's main job is to allow image hosting.
