I found a link on Avsim and followed the queue's and WOW!

http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html
I have a fairly average system, so when something like this comes along.... I am now constantly between 50-80fps when unlimited and maxed out I'm at a minimum of about 30!
I recommend trying it.

I should have guessed, judging by the webpage (it does have that ancient look) Sorry about that.

I'd never seen that before. I'll give it a nudge as my fps is less than stella at the moment.

I am amazed, both at the fact I'd never stumbled upon it before, (I consider myself to be relatively up-with-the-play on these things), and the performance increase! It has doubled my FPS at least, in most places more. I was using the Dubai X freeware scenery which brought my PC to its knees, with 2-3 FPS. It was unflyable. But now it's lifted it up, to a flyable, but not perfect 10-15 fps. I cant wait to get out of the city. biggrin.gif

Adrian, Core/Threads if you have a quad core it will be 4, if you have hyper threading active it will be 8.
If you open task manager and go to the Performance tab the amount of windows in the CPU usage pane will be the amount of core threads you have.

You may have to go to the View menu of task manager and select "CPU history / One graph per CPU"

I may of been a bit over eager as my intial flight was in cloudless sky ...as soon as the clouds come in my FPS goes down but I'm still seeing a good improvement with this fix

Here's an interesting thing....

One of the recommendations made when i used this was to set unlimited frame-rate within FSX and use an external limiter. I did. Contrary to my expectations (I have used the same tool successfully in the past on another rig) it made the whole thing less fluid. I have accepted all the other cfg mods and been rewarded with a small increased f/r but I have reverted to setting max f/r within FSX to 28. Its good smile.gif

The Tweak page gives instructions -- you just locate it by copy/pasting the supplied line into the Browse address window.
