In addition the US Marine Corps will have on display a KC-130 Hercules air-to-air refuelling aircraft. The Royal Air Force has confirmed their involvement but not yet the aircraft type that will take part.
I hope they bring some fighter jets along with the KC-130! Sounds awesome!

Good to see all that involvement, but a bit of a shame they seem to be almost all bringing only transport aircraft. I've got nothing against the herc, but when you've seen the RNZAF display routine you've really seen the extent of what they can do, unless the USAF brings "Fat Albert". winkyy.gif Should still be a good show, and I always enjoy them from a photographer's point of view but watching three or four Hercules/CN-235 displays might be a bit tedious after a while.

You will probably only find the RNZAF Herc will be in the air display...the rest will be static. The C-17 is schedued to fly though and thats worth watching. Another static I find interesting wiill be the Boeing Wedgetail. Anson (and Avenger will be another highlight presuming it flys in time.

Seems an awful lot of people have been hearing rumours of an F-35...and they ARE building a USMC one...and the USMC ARE bringing a tanker so they could in theory ferry one all the way out here right...?

BTW Fat Albert is a USN Aircraft, not USAF...part of the Blue Angels display team...

@ AB...."now i wonder what they will paint up this time " They are going to gather up a few of us old ex's , me ,Deane, Naki, Steel.....paint us gold and parade us around the traps....because theres no one else left.....just a couple of LAC's and Wing Commander dry.gif (and he was an LAC last week)

Sad, when you think about it...the operational capability at the time of the 50th , and now at 75. However, i dont regret 1 minute of my time and wish those that remain all the best.
Its easy to get all bitter and twisted , but times change.

Im glad i served my time during the good times, when wigram echoed to the sounds of Harvards, Devons, Daks and Freighters. I remember the big parade to welcome the first Airtrainer, and i saw the first Andover arrive at Auckland .....great days.....ANZUS was alive and well, even got a (limited) tour of the Pintardo (US Nuke sub) when she called into Auckland .

Back when all sorts of "odd' C-130's called into Auckland , and Fincastle was all P-3's, Nimrods , and the Argus......even saw an F-4 there one day with 2 Red stars on the side.....and to waffle even more ....the big Triad exercise that involved most of the country....KC-135's, F-111's, F-16's. I was lucky enough to score a ride on a KC-135 , and lay beside the boomer when he refueled a few F-16's close to wellington, I'll never forget that, the aircraft commanders name was Major Gold. I think the smoke from that take off is still hanging around CHC laugh.gif

Good Times Indeed.

Looks like a good warbird lineup at least, I thought the Anson would be a Wanaka "exclusive" so I'll be pretty happy if it makes it to Ohakea. You're right about my USAF/USN confusion too - wasn't thinking!

I remember as a kid on Whenuapai Airbase I'd look over 42Sqd block to see what new tails had arrived during the night or cycling down to the pools to find a C-5 or C-141 parked down on 08..the C-5 used to just whisper in ( definately not whisper out !),..and to occasionally see the Nimrods and Canadian Argus's and later the Aurora's parked up ...great memories.., grew up on Ohakea and Whenuapai so have Avgas running in my veins , hopefully with our current government not kicking our allies in balls we might see some of the haydays return thumbup1.gif

What is the anniversary colour or thing for 75 years ?....50 is gold, 65 is diamond (i think) ....maybe they could just put a badge or something on all the aircraft for a year.
Wont matter if their new or not, its the Air Force anniversary....not the aircraft.

I think it was a time when we could call it an Airforce , ironic .. 75 has the double meaning , deletion off that Squadron which was in more part so much off RNZAF history .

I know what your saying Ian, but its over sadly, and i cant see any way (short of all out war...and we dont want that) that we can get it back. I bet aunty Helen is grinning , knowing shes living under the protection of the USAF. Lets hope she never gets any input into how they run that unsure.gif

It only took Heer Hitler to get the ball rolling , i know we live in a very different world , but end off the day just for the namesake off the Squadron and its history 75sqn should have a token gesture simply for celebrations/airshows and for the thousands of real Kiwis.

It really is quiet embarrassing , many have other memorials , come NZ ... its a can we borrow ... prity bloody pathetic .

Im not sure about the F-22/ 35 showing at the Air show...but ....i was talking to Air force people today about it , and as far as they know its us, plus RAAF C-17 & F-18, a Herc from singapore.
As yet, no commitment from either the RAF, or USAF.
