Most of you will recognize Karamea as we depart, betting this stuff isn't very thick.



It's lightening up and the sun appears to be above - which is good.



The thought crosses your mind - could I go back?

Reminds me of my PZL-Wilga! I wonder what the thinking behind such a long/high undercarriage struts is. I can see it'd help for grass strips etc. ... but do they need to be quite so high??

A thing that comes to mind is the angle of attack presented by the long main gear encourages earlier flyability, what with flaps, slats etc. Not saying you're going anywhere, yet, but at least airborne. For landing, some really long oleo struts.

The long leg were designed to keep Erwin Rommel out off his plane ( i heard he was quiet short) , the German High Command did not like him being at the very front spearheading every battle .
