Well, i missed out on the AVSEC job, as i thought i would because of the health thing....but, i got a few days work with a local company .
Ive been working as a safety officer in the red zone down here in chc.
Its only 2 days a week , but its interesting work...Im on the Forsyth Barr site, which is going to be repaired.

Being in that area of the city has given me a whole new look at things......total devastation.....i was in a little cafe today that hasn't been touched for a year, now i know what a 13 month old filled roll looks like. Its really odd, like time just stopped on Feb 22nd....hard to explain.....one office i saw, coffee cups where they were left, phones and laptops just abandoned .....spooky.

From the 4th floor(where i am) i can see what remains of the inner city, and there isn't much. Walking around on my break and seeing spray paint signs on the ground saying "body in car"...."body under beam" , brings things back into focus.

Thats why i may have seemed a little short with the comments on my "just 3' post in the screenshot thread...i mean...i dont give a flying **** if the wbs stang hasnt got a switch sound....just be thankful you can use it!, and get a life, or join a group and talk it out there.

Might just give the whole sim thing a miss for a while, theres more to life than this.

You'll find you get back real soon ... get home relax lay-back .. turn on TV .. whoops .. nothing happening .. you need to try another side of Flight sim after the break , painting aircraft and this requires the research which you would very much enjoy and even maybe quietly design models , just a simple building .. but first the holiday away from FS and look at the real world cool.gif

Once a hobby becomes a chore or overly-concerning, it's time to hang it up for a while. I'm sure you'll be back, but as you said, there's always bigger concerns in life.
On that note, you can't get too wrapped up in the politics of any facet of life either (unless your a politician I guess..).
Time to clear the mind, refocus energy on other projects, and come back to a hobby when it truly is a "hobby"...meaning it's something that you enjoy doing in your spare time.

Good luck with the new job - one of the guys here in the office has just been down to Christchurch and described what its like..I guess it wont really sink in what it's like unless I see it with my own eyes
