They used to do what was called "Airways Trainers", which were basically 3-4 hour sorties practicing approches into different airports. I went up on a couple and it was pretty neat, especially sitting up in the cockpit behind the pilot. Big power surge when they power up from a missed approach is pretty cool. It was fun to see how it was all done and I loved getting to see the country side....and at good speed too!!

Some of the later pics show some nice spirals forming off the props. It shows you that those big blades are moving some serious air and taking quite a bite even at low to mid speeds. It took a bit of convincing some of the techos even, that the prop blade pitch would well exceed 45 degrees at high speed, which does not at first make sense or appear efficient!

Very much looking forward to see photo's , those props , to take the engine engineering to the layman , best to get in a canoe and paddle .. the rest is physic's and being physical cool.gif

Not bad looking for a 50 year old aircraft ... and these look just as polished as Singapore's Herc 's cool.gif altho you get under it around the hydraulics its stain by oils and fluids .
