I heard a rumour about this previously, seems to be true:
There are boxed Spits buried in Burma, and they are about to be exhumed

That is very cool. Will be interesting to see a) What condition the parts are in and b) what actual mark is down there. Would be great if they are IX's, but any variant will be great if they can be assembled and safely flown. Oh for a time machine to be able to hop back to the late 40's and scoop up a few of all the iconic piston WWII aircraft at the ridiculously fire-sale prices they were going for.

They are more likely to be these Mk IIs would be too early.

I've been following this - they are actually RAF (not Burmese) Mark XIVs and perhaps Mark VIIIs that were in Burma at the end of the war...they are defnitely not Mark IIs...newspaper has the wrong facts (as usual)

When I grow up , I want to be a news paper joinery maker .. I mean a news paper mache maker
