"Friday Night Flights"

For everything about online flying around New Zealand

Postby MaarkenEdwards » Fri Jul 13, 2012 9:26 pm

Hey all smile.gif I was thinking that a good idea I might carry through is a Friday night server at airports such as NZTG (Tauranga), NZAR (Ardmore), NZPP (Paraparumu) and others like those listed. This will be a server for any aircraft which operate from the host airport, to do whatever you wish to, providing it is approved by ATC in the session (comment if you would be interested in a position)

Any type of flying is allowed as long as it is not disrupting other simmers flights.

ATC should be for all skills of flying, if you are not too familar with NZ ATC comms, just try your best, if you are then go for gold smile.gif

Comment if you are interested as a pilot or ATC smile.gif

Cheers biggrin.gif

Hey Markeen, are you talking about VATSIM? or on a MS game server with someone volunteering to be ATC? How would that work?
I'm certainly interested either way thumbup1.gif

Haha, well it will be a gamespy session, but we will be using TS for ATC, that way there is a much smaller chance of connection problems, and if you are interested in ATC, an idea maybe to put "ATC" in front of your TS nickname, so pilots know who is in control of the current airspace.

That's another great thought - base the flight around Wellington tower .. be great idea to track flights , we did have this setup many years back .. be nice to have a budding ATC person .. figured i could tower out . cool.gif we must get people to follow the charts

Sounds great Ian, for charts etc, best bet for everyone to visit (if you didn't know about the site) is www.aip.net.nz for all of NZ's airport charts smile.gif

Markeen , thanks for posting the link for the info , think most/should already would have the charts , we'll see how many have the Wellington scenery or even another maybe Hamilton would be a great scenery being a cheaper option

Hey guys, just out of interest, why bother using Gamespy/TS and finding someone to do ATC when we could just fly on VATSIM together?
If we were to ping the VATNZ guys I'm sure they would gladly find someone to provide at least CH-CTR coverage for the region we're in.

The only issue really would be getting eveyone up and running with FSInn or Squawkbox (I reccomend FSInn), but once thats done you're all set.

I've had much trouble with VATSIM and all that stuff, and I have heard that the VATNZ guys are really strict over alot of stuff, but I guess it could be worth a try

I'm yet gotta join a MP with VATSIM , I'm sure the rules are there just to stop the uncontrolled kiddies , end of the day i would like to follow protocall and a great experience following charts , or even if a little lost have an ATC find you .. it really happens in the real world .

Hi All,

Bin away from here for a while, but with a new rig
up and running, am back into hosting the OZX Friday night sessions.

Was always too late for you guys, but hoping to have some sessions up around 0730Z.

I seem to be able to handle 15+ with no dramas.

And we have been providing ATC on some nights, with moderate success but hey...
we are improving.

Anyone here is welcome to join as we will be moving to NZ sessions a lot once NZSI is released.

When I was a cud, we had a strip for topdressers on our place near Whakatane, so guess what my first
instant scenery project is gunna be !!

Cheers
