The Big NZ Welcome Mat

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Postby Ian Warren » Mon Jun 04, 2012 10:27 am

Hi Ade
As you no Ilam and Upper Riccarton very well - since the Wobblys have come thru there are now a lot of fine restaurants suited for families , just wish my place was able to facilitate a full family cos you could have stayed here . Course in the time the Wigram Museum is a primary visit were we can get as many NZFF members together for a gathering , and maybe a dinner party later that night at a 'Lonestar' or another sit down meal or even a BBQ if the day is warm here .
As you get closer to confirm were you are that can be sorted. My address details below for your itinerary.

------------------
-----------------
----------------

I'll start a post to inform all CHCH and maybe - sure many other members across the country for a welcome mat , make it the best eighth visit you will ever have .

Heh heh, thanks Ian.

I'll be there throughout August, initially in Auckland and then touring from mid-August. For those who don't know, this will be my eighth trip to New Zealand in twelve years, so I'm almost a local. New_Zealand_etc.gif

Looking forward to getting back to my second home thumbup1.gif clapping.gif

Cheers,

Ade

Ok guys and gals , figured if Ade and family can make it all the way back to New Zealand , He definitely wants to visit the Wigram Air Force World , what a better place to meet for all us NZFF Wobblyvites/Wobblyvillians (ex-Christchurch tongue.gif)members to greet him and family with our showing , I'm in for sure , put the dates below on your calender , you can say yes now because you don't no what might popup , but as plane nutters who have not been to the Museum for a while ... put your hands up

Hi guys,

I'm thinking of flying down to Christchurch on Monday 13th August and staying until Monday 20th. That would give Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th as good potential days for the museum visit and meet. Hopefully others may be interested in coming along too.

I have no plans at all for Christchurch yet but I'm coming down primarily for socialising rather than sightseeing this time. Are either of you around during the week? All suggestions and ideas welcome!

How does that sound?

Adrian , you still have all my address details and phone number ?

Hiya Naki,

Yes, Tauranga is likely to be on the itinerary at some point (I'm North Island based 4th-13th and then 20th-27th Aug). Classic Flyers sounds like a plan! The middle week will be down with Ian and the gang in Wobblyville laugh.gif

Cheers,

Ade

Sounds great Ian! Really looking forward to it.

Well, I'm here now, having arrived into Auckland on Saturday afternoon. It's great to be back in my second home! I'm currently relaxing and helping with my niece's birthday celebrations this weekend. I'll be in Christchurch from next Monday (13th) to the following Monday (20th) and then back in Auckland, although some North Island road touring will probably happen during that week as well.

Thanks to everyone who's contacted me, I'll be in touch over the next few days to try to fix up some meet ups!

Cheers all,

Ade

Heh heh, I think I'm going to have to yes... I'm only travelling with a netbook which is great, but not powerful enough to run flightsim! Looking forward to seeing peoples' set-ups... ohmy.gif

Ian and I have been out to Wigram a couple of times and thanks to his mate Barf got a brilliant look behind the scenes at the restoration workshop and storage hangar ohmy.gif. Good that I've also been able to help out in a small way with a couple of Ian's upcoming flightsim projects.

Good to talk to deeknow over Teamspeak last night - thanks for that great demonstration of multiplayer, Dean.

Well, sadly my time in NZ is almost up for another year. I fly out tomorrow evening to begin the long trek back to the UK.

What a fantastic trip though, and made all the more enjoyable and special by meeting up with forum friends old and new, both in person and via TeamSpeak. So thank you very much to Ian Warren, Adamski, Kelvinr, creator2003, dbcunnz, deeknow, lowglow, scaber and toprob for making me so welcome. thumbup1.gif biggrin.gif cheers1.gif clapping.gif

Family stuff meant I couldn't catch up with everyone who contacted me so sorry to those I wasn't able to see. As Ian knows, I always say it's good to leave something good for the next time! biggrin.gif

As big Arnie once said, "I'll be back".

Thanks guys,

Ade
