Coromandel

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Postby ematheson » Wed Aug 29, 2012 6:29 am

Hi! I'm looking for the Coromandel photoscenery by Robin Corn and all the of the various addons for it by Lawrie Roache and Charl du Toit. After Snowmans site got hacked the last time, they went missing and I foolishly did not have them backed up.
Is there anyone that could help get those? I am also looking for the Canterbury/Christchurch scenery with airfields and the two NZ Rural packs.
Thanks!

Hello EM, thought you might end up here!
It's not an "easy" package to collect as you probably know, consisting of several layers of updates and tweaks.
And of course, not uploaded anywhere at the moment in its entirety.

I'm sure someone has at least some of the bits needed, and it might be a good time to get this stuff up at flightsim.com.

The chronology as I recall was:
- Robin Corn's photoreal
- Ian Warren's updated autogen (there were a few)
- Lawrie Roache's NZTH, NZCX, NAZG ( just off the PR), NZWT, NZUN.
- My tweaks to the photoreal at these airfields which I see are indeed at flightsim.

It'd be great to have this all freely available again, it's a great addition to FS9 NZ.

Its simply made with VLC Library objects so is nothing special- It will include a photoreal base which helps make things look good though. I wonder if we could combine the best of both of ours?

I've got backed up right now:
NZCX
photoreal tweaks for Coromandel
AGN files for Coromandel
NZAG

I ALSO have backed up my last install of these sceneries, but I think I need a reinstall. For some reason, I get an Appcrash in the area of NZUN lately and I really don't know what component of the equation in that area is screwed up, since it crashes there no matter which combination of things I active, deactivate, etc.
In fact, I'm reinstalling my entire FS9 because of it, just to be sure that all is OK.

I still need:
Coromandel Photo terrain by Robin Corn
NZUN
NZTH
NZWT
Canterbury/Christchurch - with airports - since I don't have any of that backed up.
Taranaki area Rural Airstrips
GNZLAP - avsim seems to have misplaced these files - though I think it may have the Flock of Fletchers still.

Fortunately Queenstown, Dunedin, and the base Rural Airstrips are still sticking around, along with a good number of the other older Godzone and other sceneries for NZ.

Too big to email maybe someone can upload this with Robin's permission.
Earlier agn versions also caused strange issues, I have the last update I think

NZUN
NZTH
NZWT
I have these on another computer somewhere, PM me an email address and I'll send them.

Did you look at Ian's link above?
Taranaki area Rural Airstrips

Go to flightsim.com and search on "Charl"

I've got the original installer, version 1.1, but I don't really know what that represents -- whether it includes any autogen update, for instance. I could upload this as-is to Avsim, but it might be better if someone could package up all the various bits and pieces and upload them together. All you'd need would be permission of anyone involved, and I'd certainly give my permission for use of the photo scenery to anyone who wants to do this.

Unfortunately since it's been a long time since I had FS9 installed, I can't do this myself.

I've got the primary Christchurch airport backed up... its the base photo terrain and the small airports in that area that are missing. I did try Ians website... but many of the links on it reference the now deceased fs-snowman website... as the one about which I complain!

As to GNZLAP, I guess my failure to find it is probably my fault. I searched "GNZLAP," but I guess a search by author name is smarter...

I would be more than happy to package and upload a complete Coromandel bundle if I could get it assembled. No guarentees it'd be very polished though... no auto installer, nothing really but files. What would be the preferred packaging? Completed and integrated or as a bundle of separate individual zips... as a complete package or as a compilation of the original files?

All we do is a zip and plop , everything packaged , idea would be also post at Flightsim.com in concert with Avsim , I been meaning to reinstall FS9 for other purposes and this would be a good reason to .

Ive just found a later package i did with all 4 of the airfields for the FS9 Godzone Coromandel Photoreal together in one zip file on an old backup disc.
I could upload this to Flightsim.com if anyones interested, but for them all to work properly, it would depend on you already having the FS9 Static Objects Library installed, which is no longer available anywhere else.
From memory, i think the individual FS9 EZ Scenery Object sets required to make them work are listed in the read-me's with each scenery.
This would be a help to any that dont have the complete FS9 Static Objects Library.

Ive just uploaded the old FS9 NZTH, NZCX, NZWT, NZUN package of the 4 airfields for the Godzone FS9 Coromandel Photoreal to Flightsim.com .
Should be added to the download library within the next 24 hrs.
NZAG Matarangi Beach is already available on both Avsim.com and Simviation.com .

Still looking for the Coromandel and Christchurch photosceneries. The rest of the packages have turned up - save the original base photosceneries themselves...
