Did you reinstall or get the latest video card drivers for your card? Is Direct X updated and working?
You did reinstall FSX after reinstalling Vista? (in case you just reinstalled over and existing Vista installation?).

It could perhaps be a corrupt log book file (as these are left in place when un-installing)- Do a search for FSX logbook error (you should try disabling it, it will rebuild automatically)

So to understand your problem FSX just hangs and doesn't progress is that right?

Your reinstall - did you format your drive and reinstall, or run a repair?

I'd suspect a registry problem on the info above. Did you do a clean install of FSX as well? Could try putting the original FSX disk and trying repair - It never worked for me - but some it has.
Takeoff's are optional. Landings are mandatory.

I suggested video card/directx issue because the transition from splash screen to main menu I think involves a switching of video display, and hence it is a prime location for video related issues to occur. It may not be, but often it is related to the video card in one form or another.
Could also possibly be FSX logbook related.

There is no fsx logbook in the Flight Simulator file (C:\Users\Ben\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files)

If It Helps In Any Way, I Left It Over Night And When I Looked at it this morning it said that error message about fsx running out of available memory.

Im Trying to start it now but its gone unresponsive.

Oh And it did run for like 1 min after i installed fsx dulex, then i exited it without flying to install acceleration, When acceleration didn't work I uninstalle dfsx and reinstalled this time it wouldnt work with or without fsx dulex

Gotta love FSX.

I only started with FSX Gold at the start of the year and have had the same problems you are experiencing now also.

Logbook corruption is a big one.. Try deleting your current Logbook.bin and then starting FSX. If that dosnt fix it...try. (this annoyed the hell out of me because I kept losing my Hrs)
Deleting your Default Flight... If you updated your Vid Drivers and have a Default Flight Saved to open on Startup FSX dosn't like it. Pretty sure theres a reference to the Video driver in the Saved Flight. (could be just because I am running two Monitors)
You have to get it back to FSX Default Flight.... The Glider already in the Air over the US somewhere.

If that dosnt fix it then you may have over done it on the Visual Settings. Delete your FSX.cfg and let FSX build a New one and Start again.

Good Luck... Trying to get FSX to work smoothly takes some time, and every system is different. Make sure all drivers are upto date before setting up.

This has been the same since MS Flight Simulation was created , each two year jump built a problem but also remedy one , FSX now going seven years old is still doing well for itself .
