Graphics Issue

Hi people since I installed FSX again on my desktop I have been experiencing some graphics issues.

The main issue seems to be with anti-alaising, when you take off from NZAA the harbour bridge seems to be swinging up and down1 sad.gif and when you are on NZWNs runway the piano bars and markings on the runway flashes all the time.

For some unknown reason I installed Real NZ Nelson and there is a weird river through the city that shouldn't be there, but if you look at it from different angles you cant see it anymore

I havent got VLC installed yet will this make a difference?

these are my PC Specs

Windows XP
AMD Athlon II X2 240 Processor 3.0 GHZ
4.00GB of RAM
Geforce 9800GT 1GB of Memory

I am thinking it may be my graphics card on the way out but i can run FSX at nearly full settings and Iam still getting 20-30 FPS

Please help

It's hard to pinpoint what is going on here, a screenshot or two would help.
Do you have FSX up to date, with SP2 or Accel?
Do you use DX10 mode by any chance?
How is AA set up, does FSX or the graphics card control this?
Have you testing different filtering methods?

I would expect SP2 to make a bit of a difference, especially around photo ground textures, as these were broken in the default FSX.
The Filtering settings are on the FSX Settings: Graphics tab, just above the AA checkbox. Have a play with the various options and see if it helps.
Some people prefer to let their graphics driver control AA and filtering, so that's another option to check out. It doesn't really sound like a hardware problem from your description, but it could be more that one issue to deal with here.
Once you have SP2 installed, you should have a clearer idea of what the problems could be.

Actually I'm having a problem with installing SP2 FSX is installed on an external hard drive (WD 2TB Harddrive) when I go to install it it thinks FSX is not installed because it is not installed on Local Disk C, what can I do about this?

also do I need SP1 as well?

Thanks for the help Guys

Requires SP1 then SP2 , to save a lot of pain Acceleration would do this automatic also give you many other options .

From memory, the SPs didn't mind where you had FSX installed, but you might have to choose a custom install and select the correct path yourself. You'd also have problems if you shifted your FSX folder after installation.

Have you tried running FS_Registry_Repair a free flight1 file from http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library
I had the same problem trying to install Acceleration but mine was installed on another internal HDD not on the C drive I finished up reinstalling FSX and the Acceleration picked it up fine.
