Welcome to the NZFF November 2012 Flightsim Screenshot Competition

This month's rules are as follows (Please read them).

If you have any queries about the rules please PM me for clarification before posting your entry.

1) The screenshot image must consist of a screen captured from a Flight Simulator program (FS2004, FSX or P3D) and the position of the shot must be from somewhere within the New Zealand territory.

2) Some editing is allowed (if you know how to do it.) Additional images - either screenshots or a very small amount of "real" images can be added - but the biggest majority of the image should always be of a Flight sim screen capture.

3) The images must be jpg and size must be at least 1024 pixels wide and no wider than 1280 pixels -- A good free resizing program can be found at http://www.faststone.org/FSResizerDownload.htm
Faststone resize how to http://nzff.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17934&hl=
3a) No frames or txt to be left on the image. Please keep a high resolution version saved on your computer; the admin may request it from you at the end of the month to convert into a site banner!

4) Images can be submitted from November 1st until midnight 30th November 2012, with only one entry of a single image per member.
You can change your image anytime up until 1 hour before the closing time.
To change use the edit button at the bottom of your post, just delete the old one and replace it with a new one
If you post comments using the quote or reply button please edit out all images from your reply or quote.

5) Soon after the competition ends, a poll will open for members to decide who has the best image, and then the winner will have a cropped version of their image appear in the NZFF banner as well as receiving the prize for the month.

6) This month's theme: “Oh Bugger That Wasn't supposed to Happenâ€￾ (Please state Aircraft details and over what part of New Zealand the image was taken)

I ask all members to please patronize all our very generous prize sponsors.
We have an excellent prize for this month’s competition very generously donated by A2A Simulations

The voting will take place after the competition closes at the end of the month and the winner with the highest vote will get the prize and have their image placed in the NZFF Banner for the month.

For this months competition the prize winner can pick a download product of their choice from A2A Simulations

Thank you this month’s prize sponsor A2A Simulations.

Well ... it was slow for me when uploading. I wonder whether the hurricane damage took out a lot of New York servers and traffic is being re-routed. Either that, or it's our typical cr@p Kiwi connection to the rest of the world. The pic (above) shows fine for me (and did when posting).

Ian you crack me up biggrin.gif
That's nicely done.

However, can I just put this out there, maybe this needs a new topic (feel free to move it). I think this theme is a bit on the tough side for flight sim. It's not like damage is modelled in the most part, unless you go for payware, so I feel the topic is a bit difficult/ restrictive this month. I know you can post a nice screenshot and say "oops, captain drops coffee on his lap" for a title, but really, options I feel are limited with this theme? Oviously if you have the paintshop skills you can do what Ian did, but I know I couldn't do that. Or is it just me?
(no disrespect intended, just sayin..)

There are still plenty of oops that wasn't supposed to happen even for people with just the default flight sim just a little imagination is needed examples are not making it over trees at the end of the runway, connecting a fence on a low approach, over shooting the runway and I'm sure there are plenty more

It's my understanding that was the landing sequence, second bounce... and one of the better ones!
The Wing Commander is not used to being perched up there in the sky on landing, he thought he had 50 ft to go....

Alister: do you not have FS9 any more??
That grand flight simulator can model damage of every degree if you just get it right.

Some ideas:

1) If you're any good with FSrecorder (or similar) you could set up a "near miss" scenario.
2) A "wheels up" landing.
3) Ditching.
4) Some FS aircraft model engine fire(s).
5) Some A2A aircraft model collapsed or partially retracted gear.
6) A glider in a thunderstorm (!).

I'm sure there are more ...

Ok, I concede there are some ideas out there I didn't originally think of. smile.gif
Case closed, look forward to seeing some outside of the box shots. (Yes Charl, I'm still a 50% FS9.1 guy!) winkyy.gif
