HOTAS Wanted

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Postby nzav8tor » Sat Nov 03, 2012 11:39 am

Hi everyone,

If anyone has or knows of a HOTAS throttle (although would consider a stick and throttle combo) they would be interested in selling please let me know.

Of particular interest is the Thrustmaster Cougar HOTAS which is no longer in production. Also, the Suncom F-15 throttle which is long out of production but was a great unit when I borrowed one several years back. CH throttle would also be considered.

So, if you have any old bits and pieces of this nature lying in the back of cupboard that you haven't used since Flanker days then I'd be very interested to discuss taking them off your hands.

Thanks,

Dave

I heard the TM Cougar was a bit of a dog ... but the Suncom were great units, as were the CH. I wouldn't recommend the Saitek X-52 (that I have). Pots go spikey pretty quickly and their software is chronic!

If you have more money than sense laugh.gif there's this one on TM ...

Yeah I tried the Suncom throttle for a while some years ago, was the first split throttle as far as I know.
Seems a shame that there is no real competition for the Warthog these days. Its a great unit, I haven't tried it but did see and touch one up close not to long ago. No question its a work of art but for that price?!

I'm heading stateside in a few weeks so plan to pick up a new video card and if I can find a Cougar on ebay then I'll grab it (thats if I resist the urge to get a Warthog). Most of them seem to be had it now days but there is an interesting mod you can get which turns it into a force stick like the real F-16 controller similar to the new Saitek one.

I just find the Saitek units so ridiculous to look at, back in the days of Tie fighter and X-wing they might have been cool, but I'm all about realism and I can't use something which has a big label that says "fire" on the pickle switch!

Dont' baulk at the price - yes it might cost twice as much but you're going to get what you pay for....... in my experience quality and realism is worth paying for. You might even find it Stateside a lot cheaper.........
