Thanks Marty, and you're so right.

It does drip a little.
They take these little trays out of the wheelwell before takeoff, which catch some fluid or other.
(Sitting up high between the leg struts in this pic.)
I think they bottle it, and sell it.

Was a great day and nice photos Charl.

If you saw the Mossie shut one engine down following the second display and the crew member swap I would be keen to get some of those photos.
If you got any of that take off and landing as well that would be great.

We got the shoot done which was good but am yet to look through the photos.
Mossie, Spitfire, Mustang, and P-40 was a great sight.

In the meantime here are some others, one of the Mossie display and the rest from the Roaring 40s practice, was pretty buggered after and hour of aeros!!!!

Here is a shot taken yesterday, special thanks to NZ Warbirds for all of their work in making this happen, Deano wrote the programme around it so all of the required pilots could be available, Keith Skilling, Doug Brooker, Dave Brown, Graham Bethell, Liz Needham, and Colin Henderson were in the subject aeroplanes and Rob Silich flew the camera plane.
Finally a huge amount of thanks to Warren Denholm and Frank Parker for giving this the green light in the first place.
Trying conditions but we got there.

Great air-air Gavin, and I also rate 57's wing drop take off - gives me vertigo.

I enjoy Ardmore open days, there's no "air show" mentality to it, very laid back.
You can sit under a tree admiring the view, and suddenly there's a Mosquito flying past

or you can walk right up to the thing, as posted earlier.

Great panning shot... I'd like to see that on lift-off, maybe a foot up or so.
Gavin you'll have to put some titles on the aircrew, not everyone knows who's who.

Yes Marty, it is actually a feet photo...

Here's what I was alluding to above. It just looks like someone casually parked their WWII-Only-One-Of-Its-Kind aircraft on the back lawn.

(Actually motors were turning, but the wife's point 'n shoot doesn't do 1/60th)

That a GBU-16 LGB , 1000lb .. the actual would weight probably another 200lb , the 1000lb is the explosive - only tested , normal loads either Mk82 500lb (615lb) or Mk83 750ib (885lb)

You bolt on a seeker head and have a whole new-generation armoury.
Didn't know the Skyhawks had laser designators?

To wrap: there was of course more than just a Mosquito, one of these too (mercifully without the Shrieking Lime Green finish)

and one of these, just look how cropped is that prop! Despite which it outperforms a Mustang if I recall

Then there was one of these, surely out of Tauranga?

And then, my money shot, which is composed of negative spaces, all quite stationary

Great way to spend a Sunday morning.

The hatch photo really puts you in well gives a good idea how snug you are ... i guess to put it into perspective and anyone near Wigram wants an idea is seat your yourself into the T11 vampire cockpit in the antrium at the Museum also I do like the taxi past the flight of Harvards course the aerials .
