From a growing in-house fleet of red Pitts. As you can see, I'm a bit northwest of Picton.

Dawn over Nelson, the Wellington has had a major engine overheat. Must remember to open the cowl flaps next time and watch the engine temperatures . . . . . thought the copilot was watching that but he was composing a letter to his girl friend instead . ... . .

With it being very close to the Real fact that , lets go to the history side albeit being the Starboard rather than the Port .. a fella names James Ward , and yeah Greg was a Wanganui School teacher .. on big nos from the rest off the crew tie himself to a lanyard - popped the nav astrodome and clawed his way to the engine fire ... VC well deserved , Flt Sgt James Ward was killed only weeks later .

Interesting to note , the Air force museum has an unfinished wooden model that Ward was building. Dont understand why its locked away in a crate, if displayed it would add something extra to what we already know.
As it stands , he's just a painting and an old photo ..... shame.
Nice work Greg thumbup1.gif

btw ...just changed my comp entry ....may change it back again.... unsure.gif
