Perhaps we could ask the Iraqis, Afghans and the Vietnamese? Maybe they could shed some light...

Unfortunately, all the major world powers are quite happy to meddle in other people's affairs when it suits them, how it suits them. All that seems to vary is how much they try to hide it / take credit for it, and whether "the world" decides the meddling is good or bad. I'd say the world has "a lot" of problems right now.

Fiscal cliff, anyone? (now there's a problem "made to order" if ever there was one). Not to mention the host of "revolutions" and "tensions" the world over that never seem to go away. I bet the Chinese, Russians, French and American MIC make a few bob off all the "fun" being had day in and day out.
Ian - have you got an exhaustive list of wars / conflicts of the last 100 years, and who the main players / backers were / are? I'd say that would make an interesting read if one could get actual, truthful data on who started what, where & why, and who was pulling levers behind the scenes and / or supplying the weapons.
