Would this be good for FSX?

Hello,
I am a FS dummy, have never found the time to get into it but would like to at some point.

I bought the computer at the link below at Christmas while some great deals were on.
Have bought it for photo work as it has a 27 inch screen but I have a copy of FSX laying around somewhere so how would it go on this computer?

Gavin , 27" works very well in FSX .. that one would be a bloody corker .. the rest is try play and testing and enjoy

I'm sure 27" would work pretty damn well, im using a 32" screen on my PC, i now need to upgrade the PC with some more herbs and sheep to give it some more oomph

I agree - looks like your new beastie ticks all the boxes to get pretty good results. Once you've spent a month or two getting used to FSX, then you can begin the fun of learning to tweak FSX. That's when you'll find almost as many opinions on the "best" tweaks as there are FSX users...

The only real issue I see with it is the CPU speed... 3.1 Ghz is marginal these days... and FSX being so CPU dependent, it would be the likely bottleneck.
Trouble is with the all-in-ones, you cannot really overclock them because there is no room for a decent cooler to be added to compensate for the extra heat

I did run FSX on a 2.8Ghz CPU for a long time... but after overclocking it to 3.7Ghz, the difference was quite amazing.

As long as you dont expect everything to run at max with high frame rates, you have no problem

PassMark benchmark results are good on those 3770s though, e.g. better than a 2700K thats 3.5GHz base, it should peform pretty well

These all-in-one machines certainly look pretty sweet, nice compact footprint, fairly low power too usually. Only problem I see with them is expandability options or upgrades should you need to in a year or so's time, but hell, just buy a whole new machine

Those types of tests do not correlate over to FSX however. We did some pretty extensive testing of FSX a few years ago, and found that it is raw CPU speed that FSX wants... i.e. a single core CPU running at 3.2Ghz will outperform a quad core running at 2.8Ghz or 3Ghz when it comes to FSX specifically. The higher your CPU speed, the better for FSX.

What you mean I guess is DIRECTLY correlate? the point I was trying to make is the 3770 and 2700 are both quad-core and both within kahooey of one-another clock-speed wise, and the PassMark results show in broad terms they have very similar performance. Most people, including those on this board seem pretty happy with the 2700, so I'd say Gavin will be pretty happy w the 3770.

That should go quite nicely! Personally, I'm not a fan of the "all-in-one" style... My desk would seem a bit naked without a big ole paperweight tucked away on the bottom shelf.

Coincidentally, I got this little fellow's sibling last weekend, the difference being mine is running Windows 7 and has a Radeon HD 7450 graphics card.
I've yet to throw FSX on it, but no doubt it'll be an improvement on the 2.4Ghz I was running before.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
Last time I had FS on a computer I spent too much time playing instead of working so not sure if FS will find its way onto this computer.
It is my second all in one computer and have found them to be very good.
I throw the other one in the back of the car when going to airshows etc, has been really good for that.
