Fred Ladd did it on his last day in the gulf......if you read his book, you will understand what 'look no hands Mertyl' means.
Side note, first flight was in a Widgeon with Mr Ladd as an 8 year old, second flight was with a Capt Bruce Packer in a Goose......wrote in to See Bee Air as a 12 year old saying I was interested in planes, not only did he show me around Mechanics Bay base but took me on a 45 min flight around the gulf....a true gentleman.
Also have an autographed copy of 'A Shower of Spray and We're Away.

I could tell ya what I've done in a 152 Aerobat......but then I'd have to kill ya..... (CAA never found out....
