Air Force cuts aviation support at public events

3/1/2013 - WASHINGTON (AFNS) -- As the Air Force braces for potential sequester, leadership has cancelled all aviation support to public events for at least the remainder of the fiscal year and is standing down the Thunderbirds aerial demonstration team to save flying hours to support readiness needs.

Effective today, active-duty, Reserve and Guard units will cease all aviation support to the public. This includes the cancellation of support to all air shows, tradeshows, flyovers (including funerals and military graduations), orientation flights, heritage flights, F-22 demonstration flights and open houses, unless the event includes only local static assets.

Additionally, the Air Force will cancel the Thunderbirds' entire 2013 season beginning April 1.

Screw the airshows Ian ..... they (the US) Have to save money.
To me, its simple...keep your nose out of things that dont concern you. (USA) and save lots.
All the cr@p about keeping the world free....come on, if there was no oil there, they wouldn't be there either.
How many young lives have been lost in the middle east? and for what ....OIL.... thats what... no question.

If you want airshows, then stay at home.
Now, where are those weapons of mass destruction ?? and how many are dead looking for them.
In my personal opinion , between the U.S and israel .... the end is nigh.

it is not even that as far as i can see, it comes down to the pollies, they all want something and will not compromise, that is what has brought this about, don't travel to the US either, the border security waits will be up to 5 hours because of staff cut forced by no one having the balls to compromise and get an agreement done, as far as i can see this whole mess in the us will hurt the normal American,

getting of my soap box now, will be interesting to see what it does for the f-35 program too
