I agree but should you be saying that Ian, you might influence people before they vote and is there any way of hiding the count as it can be seen if you don't log in?

I agree Steelsporran, been saying it for a while now, the voting would be a lot fairer if you couldn't see what the tallies are til the end. People are influenced by how other people vote.

Can't tell you who i voted for but always the one i like and understand what your saying ... i look at the pics in other ways and study the attempts and how specific the newbies have applied themselves are the one who get my vote .... even if they only score ONE vote they see their work reckoning merit rather skill if the person can edit or simply a smack on fluke screen ..makes them think to return for next month .

Think its already been looked at but can't change it ... don't follow others .. would you eat something you did not like it even because people said it was delicious .

Because of the way the poll system works, you can always choose to see the tallies before you vote, some people are going to do that, and some are not. I guess it is more likely that someone might support an underdog once they see who's getting the votes, rather than follow the crowd, but either way it isn't going to make any real difference.

I normally have a couple of favourites while the comp is running, and only have to decide from a few at voting time.

It might become an issue in the later stages of the voting period, where some voters might want to make sure that their vote isn't going to be wasted, and only choose from likely winners. It's really a matter of deciding how much the votes could be affected by seeing the tallies first, but this month I can easily see that the front-runner is there simply by merit. If voting was closer, then it may be possible to affect the outcome, simply by voting against a front-runner. At the moment this could be used to affect the minor placings, but really nobody has more than a single vote in the end.

The thing that would help to sort out the problem of a few members favoring the highest vote would be to have a whole lot more of the silent members to join in and have their vote instead of just the few regulars that vote now.

Or would you just get more people voting and favouring the highest vote?

I agree though more people voting especially would be better, i'll always vote whether I enter or not.

Ian, it's got nothing to do with what I think of my screen, sometimes I just don't get around to it. This month I didn't bother because I'm not into photo realistic scenery.

Always enjoy checking everyones entries though... smile.gif

It looks like voting numbers might be back to normal now, after last month's push via the newsletter, resulting in 67 votes. It's certainly hard to get members to stick around, that's for sure. To those who voted last month, thanks, but your job isn't done! Do we need to send a newsletter out every month?
