Post and comment on screen captures from the beautiful game here. Home of the monthly screenshot competition

This is not my comp entry.
Photobucket has been getting a lot of adverse comment lately, and some folk have concerns about thumbnails possibly being used to judge entries at voting time, rather than the up-to-1290 wide actual pic.
I use Postimage, which I came across when I was looking for a replacement host after I changed ISPs and lost my personal 10GB of webspace. I tried it, liked what it did and have continued to use it. I am not connected with them in any other sense.

I pressed V to take a full-screen bmp, 1920 x 1080, resized/resharpened it in Irfanview, leaving the size the same , and saved it as a jpg, to keep the file size down.
I uploaded that to Postimage, selecting Do not resize my image, and then I could choose from a variety of link codes, using a Copy to Clipboard button.
The code for Link gives me a display pic at 1280 wide, which is fine for the comp. Because it is derived from a larger pic, there is also a link to Full size pic.
The code for Direct Link gives me a pic 1280 wide without the link to a full size pic. I could also have selected Resize to 1280 x 1024 (or larger/smaller) , or even 150 x 112 (thumb) or 100 x 75 for an avatar, from a pull-down menu.

Direct Link: http://s19.postimg.org/3jyekgr8j/An_2_001.jpg

Usually I just add img and /img tags to the link, ti show the pic in line.
There are also options for Thumbnails for forums but the BB is not set to allow active links of that kind in posts, which is as it should be .
However, if I have more than one image in a gallery I can click 'Link to this Gallery', and copy/paste that url into my post, e.g. http://postimg.org/gallery/5vgsj24w/

It's free, the Terms of Use are good, and it is easy to use. It might be worth a look

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

Cheers, Ian - I just wanted somewhere to keep my pics, but the other features might make the comp things a bit easier for Doug... winkyy.gif

I see that they supply a mod for forums, including IPB, so this might be worth looking at.

Yes, I've just given it a go on my comp entry -- very simple to do, maybe too simple...

It is nothing like photobucket, or any other online photo site, as your images don't go into an account -- you can't browse, organise, or even delete them, you can only upload and link. Apparently they are there forever, so we'll see whether they survive to the end of the month...

Rob - it is certainly "basic" - I would like some sort of slide show function.
As to deleting, when I log on, I can click "My Images" which shows all my galleries with one thumbnail from each. At this point, I can click delete on a gallery and wipe that one entirely, or open that gallery and by placing the cursor over one of the thumbnails within it, I get a small popup with buttons to delete image, and rotate left or right.
I started using it in August last year, and everything I put up is still there except what I deleted myself.

Cheers

Cheers, Mike, I figured there must be some advantage to signing up. But really, I do like the simplicity, not to mention the fact that it doesn't make me jump through hoops to upload at the size I want.

For people on limited bandwidth allowance plans (mine is 8GB/mth), you can view the thumbnails first and only d/l the full size pics you want to see.
