Hiding FSX messages

Post and comment on screen captures from the beautiful game here. Home of the monthly screenshot competition

I tried editing the FSX.CFG as I suggested in another thread, but discovered that FSX was undoing the changes I made, when it started up.
So I looked around the net and found this:
http://www.flightsimworld.com/forums/topic...x-text-removal/

and having applied the changes in these lines:
[Display]
ChangeTime=0.000000
TransitionTime=0.000000

I no longer see the stuff in the top RH corner. I also set the Parking Brake Enable one to False.
I also found articles about disabling other things like the " Exit Door Opening" message with its green bar. Apparently that can be done by editing text in the language.dll, but I will leave that alone for now.

Cheers

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

Another useful tip for editing the Messages appearing on the screen...>>>

Quote from the File:

Filename: braketext.zip
Author: Brent Hricziscse
Only for FS2004
=========================

!!!!Please note that this file mod will ONLY work with the ENGLISH version of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. If you have another language set up with Flight Simulator such as French, German, etc, this mod will not work properly.!!!!

---------BACKUP your original language.dll file---------

================================================================================
=============
What this file does:
This is a simple mod of Microsoft's Language.dll file that's originally found in your Flight Simulator 2004 root directory. It changes the irritating pop-up scroll bar messages of 'BRAKES', 'PARKING BRAKES', and 'DIFFERENTIAL BRAKES', to a more acceptable 'B', 'PB', and 'DB'.

This mod does not change/remove all pop-up scroll bar messages, just the ones mentioned above.

INSTALLATION:
BACKUP your original language.dll file from your Flight Simulator 2004 root directory, then copy the language.dll file supplied in this zip file into your FS2004 root directory, overwriting the original one when prompted. That's it!

If you can't do without the original scroll bar pop-ups at some future date, simply delete this language.dll and copy your original language.dll back into your FS2004 root directory and all is restored.

================================================================================
==============
AVSIM Library zip files of interest:

For partial and/or complete REMOVAL of the scroll bar pop-ups in FS2004 :

nobrakes.zip by Julie Rhodes
messagekill.zip by Julie Rhodes

================================================================================
==============

No responsibility is assumed or accepted by the author when using this modified file. Always backup your originals.

End quote.

I use it for my FS 2004 to modify the Brake messages, etc...It avoids cluttering up the Panel Controls at the bottom of the screen!

For FSX:

"Hideinfotext=1" I believe in the FSX.cfg main section will hide all of the red text that appears in the bottom RH corner.

I used a free hex editor to open the language.dll file and removed the annoying messages that appear in the green bar at the top of the screen such as "main exit open/close" but I can't remember which number is the correct location! LOL. However, I could find how I did it again if anyone is interested and post it...

'Hideinfotext' will get rid of ALL the red messages.
I didn't use it because I want to know whether my sim has frozen, or I have accidentally pressed the 'Pause' key...
