Trouble is, in recent years what used to be glorious sound has become an annoying noise, so the great jets and turboprops have had to go...but I can still do procedurals in Connies and the like, with nice rumbly radials
Amazing how lucky Lockheed got there , the first real whoops with having another primary country supplying power plants .. end product a very few aircraft , the 10 equals but for the rush of competition and in service airline ground crews rushing in using all sorts of miss-managed maintaining causing the beginning of the end ..... course throw in Air New Zealand's debacle after 1979 really added to the mix ...
Now you mentioned rumbly radials .... Lockheed , maybe they should have stuck with em a little while longer ... but for airlines wanting cash ... those great old days of Jumbos and SSTs and cheap travel........ mind you i recall it was about $330NZ one way to Sydney in 1980

Hmm - didn't create much of a deterrent, did it?
