A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Postby captainherc » Sat Jun 15, 2013 11:32 am

I have free to a good home a set of IFR charts. Dated 07 June 07. Still relevant to simming though. First to PM me gets them. Post free too.
Cheers,
Adrian.

Hi Ian. Pm sent. Great idea to scan and let all simmers use. These last used when I was flying regular. Now just starting my instructors rating then looks like I will need to get iy Instrument rating current as a friend wants to fly around NZ for his business. So all looking good at this stage.
Cheers,
Adrian.

Replied to your PB .. Yyp buy a A4 3 dollar clear-file folder , leave it on the desk top beside your sim and away you go cool.gif

Thanks Adrian cool.gif .. OK .. Cooking here now , scanning the first chart now and reducing to a PDF format and to a printable scale to suit a A4 format . .... Glue it all together to make it an easy reference .

Do you guys use http://skyvector.com/ ?

Fully covers NZ. The only info they don't show is MSA related stuff. I find them very useful and the coverage is great.
Remember the 50-50-90 rule. Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong!

Yeah , great link smile.gif but for the peoples who fly along following map point position and get a little lost - don't have that extra screen beside them .. even i love flicking the map enroute .. they could also screen copy and print , .. for the laptop boys they can have a folder .. again mentioned on the desktop in a folder were simply flip a page , today download a file and get it printed and covered copy from the local copy center makes it easier for the average simmer smile.gif COOL

The idea here is to get the information as easy to use for all only running off a laptop without disturbing a flight for example .. easier to open a book/folder sometimes than turning another PC on ....
now updates , this site would be very handy to UPGRADE the maps smile.gif

Be handy to have their their maps in a EFB add on as moving maps.

Yeah I use SkyVector now as the IFR charts get out of date too quick, unless you have a subscription from CAA, when flying online ATC usually expect you to have up to date airways etc
Like the idea tho Ian of having these available, would there be any legal issue with sharing tho?

Dean , currently scanning now , probably take most the weekend/week to modify and put not on the (would there be any legal issue with sharing tho?)- be the same as skyvector for real Navigation , they are out of date - dated 2007 but strangely my originals done those twenty years back STILL find the beacons in FS .. as you can see ideal for clocking onto Nav .. NDBs- VOR/DMEs and as shown .. easy to turn the page as you progress in the flight .

What have you got there Ian? Looks like a whole base operation....PC's and mice everywhere? Thought I was doing well with 2 screens and a laptop with WideFS.

Double Naught Spy Stuff , nah just the 'Operations center' .. mice , that what "Marsbar" is for - to control them , very minimal - mild compared to some of the setups i have seen .. ohmy.gif want that sorta thing type with the extras .

Need the space to plan and AGN .. But you can see the Logic with an A4 Map folder cool.gif

I was hoping to have the New Zealand IFR chart at least on disk by now but one off those things were the scanner (requires room for the swap files) at 200 dpi-res , so bit of a cleanout on the PCs . Then needs to be expand due the map size and edited - I did'nt bite off more than i chew just making it easy for folder use .
