This has probably been asked before but I can't find a reference to it.

For those of you who use FTX NZSI or NI.
Do you use the recommended slider settings from the FTX NZ user guide.
Or have you found other ones that work better.

I think it depends on your PC specs as to what slider settings you use top end PC you can run sliders pretty much maxed out mid range PC you will most likely need to adjust sliders back to get better FPS
Its just a matter of trial and error to get the best settings

On my now old PC everything is maxed bar the traffic , mesh res 10 meters tho , Ground shadows on as with land detail textures .

Target Frame rate @ 25

Airline traffic 55%
General aviation 20
Airport density Low - part due to having GSX Ground services

Road vehicles 13%
Ships and Ferries 40
Leisure boats 23

Thanks guys but my question was:

"Do you use the recommended slider settings from the FTX NZ user guide"

It's in the game folder / ORBX / User Documents

I did at first, but I have since tweaked them a little.
I do almost no 'tweaking' of FSX otherwise (many people tweak config files and the like).
The only other thing I do is stop a whole bunch of services and kill off some processes before I start FSX.
(I do this using a simple batch file)
Cheers

Thanks for that info guys.
I am just trying to sort out a small intermittent problem I am having.
Was wondering if it may have been caused by my not using the recommended settings or if it was a graphics driver issue.
I am always reluctant to tweak config or system files. As this can cause other problems further on & then be difficult to fix.
I am assuming you guys are mainly fixed wing, so you won't be having this issue.
I don't get it landing on sealed runways either.
It's the dust that is blown up by the rotor wash.
Sometimes it shows up as large brown squares.

Hey Rocky. What you describe doesn't sound like a slider related issue to me, more like a busted effects file or something???

Re the sliders for FTX yeah I originally did set mine up as per their guides, it's some sensible stuff, and worked for me at the time.
The problem I find is you inevitability tinker with them over time to suit other products, next thing you know they're almost completely different. blink.gif

I'll try some other rotorcraft & see if it's the same.
Dosent always happen though.
It can also happen somewhere it hasn't done it before.

I fly both and I don't have that issue ... at least, I haven't yet...
I don't think it will be related to the slider settings, and certainly unlikely to be related to ORBX scenery as I believe the effect is a default FSX one.
But you can always adjust the sliders and see what happens. Pick one at a time and go fully left / fully / back to where it was, then the next one.
It'll take a little time, but will show whether or not they are at issue.
I suspect the DirectX10 preview setting might also cause issues like this (I don't use it); so check that also.
Cheers

I don't use the DX10 either.
I did try it briefly but didn't like it.
