Sumfink has happened...

The place to ask for help or solve each others technical issues and discuss hardware

Postby Fozzer » Fri Jul 19, 2013 3:03 am

On all the various Sites that I am a member of, I never log-out, so that each time I enter a Forum, I appear automatically...

..but lately, a month or two, although my preference is to be logged in automatically with each visit to the NZ Forum, (name, password, etc, remembered), if I swap sites for a while, or go shopping, feed the cat, have a snooze, etc, when I return I have to log-in all over again with my name and password!
It seems to "time out"!
It only happens with the NZ Forum.

Has something recently been changed in the Forum Program...or don't you lot trust me?...... laugh.gif ... laugh.gif ...!

Sounds like a cookie problem Paul, possibly a corrupt one which is causing the problem.

There's a Major War afoot, on the Interwebby thing.
The host of a website I run reported a massive Distributed Denial of Service Attack.
So did AVSIM - in fact my access there slowed to a crawl, then... died.
I had to go through the registration process all over again.
One of the ISP's (Xtra) won't let me send email to more than 10 recipients (there goes the Neighbourhood Watch)

Some of the symptoms we see are the result of defensive software, trying to ward off the Evil Onslaught.
It hasn't stopped yet, but it looks as if we may survive this round better than the last time, which took out major commercial sites

Hello Chums... biggrin.gif ...!

I worked on John's suggestion; deleted the nzff.org Cookie, then opened the Forum again and renewed the nzff.org Cookie again...

All seems to be working OK so far, and I appear to be permanently logged in, (as preferred!).

If anything changes again I'll let you know!... winkyy.gif ...!

Paul...time to cook supper!... smile.gif ...!

All seems to be back to normal again after sorting my Cookies out (thanks John!), clearing out my recent history, cache, etc, in my Firefox Tools Menu...
