Disable Default Airport bgls

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Postby emfrat » Sat Jul 20, 2013 2:12 pm

In my Classic setup, I have the Red Baron Mesh & Topo, with TMVL=21, plus most of Rob's sceneries and Lawrie's airports.
I want to disable the default airports because they are interfering with things.
At Omaka, for instance, the default elevation is 100' but the Marlborough version is 85', so all the runways are lower than the parking spots.
I can fix this by renaming AP994460.BGL to .BGx, but I know these AP*.bgl files cover a number of other airports as well as Omaka.
Is there a chart showing the areas covered by each AP*.bgl ? I couldn't find anything in the FS9 SDK, although I thought I had seen the info there in the past.
I could use AFCAD2 to check every installed NZ airport to see which bgl it is in, but I am hoping for something quicker... dry.gif

Any suggestions, anyone?

Thanks in advance.

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

If I am understanding the issue correctly, try this (dirty) fix:
Place a copy of each AFCAD (e.g. AF2_NZOM.bgl) in the
Flight Simulator 9\Scenery\World\Scenery
folder.
They "glue" the correct elevations.

Thanks Charl - I will give that a try.
I don't remember this as an issue in my original Classic install, lost when BigBeast fried its mobo, but I can't remember why not, either blush.gif

Interesting - I have an AF2_NZOM.bgl in Classic FS\Addon Scenery\scenery, size 1.93KB, date 6 June 2007
and another one in Classic FS\Scenery\World\scenery, size 1.15KB, date 9 January 2007
I will restore the AP994460.bgl, then make both the NZOMs the same, and see wot 'appen.
If anyone recognises the timestamps, feel free to comment.
My original classic install was beautiful, and took about three years to build, but thanks to my own stupidity I had no backup of the latest version when disaster struck. I had created an All-in-one of my VF/GM UKVFR scenery, and instead of backing it up I decided to wait until I had tested it - so of course BigBeast saw the opportunity, and fried the mobo, destroying the lot by also zapping the HDD.

Hindsight... my sympathies but now you know how you do it, it goes twice as fast, and you also get to do that other thing you didn't want to do because it all worked so well...

Do you not have Omaka in Classic FS\RealNZmarlborough\Scenery ?
