Good to see that an expert such as yourself finds that that Orbx World Scenery is not too bad at all. It sure makes the original FSX by the big guns at Microsoft show up as the pigs ear that is. I run all Orbx regions for NZ but outside that just FTX Global.
I like yourself tried Global by itself in NZ. and yes it sure makes a big difference but it can't beat NZNI or NZSI if you do a lot of your flying back home. And not forgetting VLC if that floats your boat. I think price wise it is very fair for price for what you get.
Don't forget you can register for a senior discount of 20 percent on all ORBX products. With proof of age at the Flight Sim Store. And No Ian a photo of you in a wheel chair will not suffice.

Hmm FSX at last starting to look vaguely like Planet Earth!
What's with the Purple Plastic Water though?? surely one of the 'xx'X brand companies has made decent water for the Newer MS Sim?

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

Yeah!

See the sim goes:
"OK here's a message: I am water. Accept this."
The brain, being an amazing and compliant thing, decodes this and remembers it as "Water"

Coming from an FS9 perspective with a different conditioning, I see the FSX "Water Message" and go: "Huh?"

FS9 has had a LOT of attention to make the water realistic.
I doubt either sim has ownership of Real Water, but seemingly FSX hasn't made enough of an effort yet, that I have seen.
I don't know enough about it, which is why I ask.

This was a Black and White photo colourised or rinsed ... true FSX cow pooh smile.gif in the river , exactly what the "greenies" are complaining about , and whiles i type have 'Prince' playing in the background .

Hey Ian how about a test on somewhere where we know there has been no scenery enhancements published by ORBX etc. say off the coast of Honiara in the Solomons and say 100 w of Cairo on the Coast both at 6000 ft head east-west, one is unimproved jungle islands and the other is basically desert. I have the Aster Mesh for both areas and the hill/rock/coast transitions fixes but not ORBX Global. I will post some screenshots from my system. And you do some using ORBX global we can then see if there is a real enhancement or not.

Anything the had anyone doing photo scenery across the NZ showed - the Old screens - they showed horrid gable roof problems as you leave primary photoreal scenery addons so down graded because in words years back they hijacked the texture pattern to suit the ORBX group , finally the must have listened and you can now run photoreal scenery without the horrid rooftops . If you look at the Christchurch photo real without Doug's little fix you will see what i mean .. simply isolate those 2 small files by renaming or move to a seperate folder .. You then will see what ORBX did to the NZ photo real .
