Thanks , still a lot of practice required .... he zipped over the city 3 weeks back but no one in the office when i was there .

Your riding ?? we really do need to get the NZFF (South) forum van up and running , i reckon a second hand (large ) camper would be great , with a deck up on the roof.

This was my first the near killed me trip ..... but a NZFF van sounds a wicked idea ... those gorgeous summer days and N/W mornings and afternoons ... many places a bike can go that a van would not be allowed ... bike rack on the back for the stealth missions .... course I'd have to do the paint job on the van idea.gif

Hope you dont mind me posting these Ian, but here is a small selection of photos Iv taken back in 2009-10 when the veiwing deck was available for use, I agree with you too Ian the new aiport designer had some bad ideas, with no viewing deck.
Whenever I came down to CHCH I would go straight to the deck and spend hours there - very sad!! sad.gif

anyway some of these photos may be what you call ''classics from the viewing deck''!?

Preparation for the first Ice Ops which normally starts mid late September , watch the news last night and some Oz'y politian is trying to veto for and build for the Antarctic base leaving from Hobart ... if the USAF do leave Christchurch that ends any real US-NZ relation.

Ian, there's an election on - so anything said by those buggers needs several pinches of salt, not just the usual single one. angry.gif

Son-in-law has a barber shop in Nowra, so they get to know a lot of USAF guys on training courses at Albatross.

Loved Nowra for its Museum , I really get on with staff in place's like that ..... except when caught twice on two seperate occasions climbing up a side of a Wessex and the other the Gannet ninja.gif ... never met US personal at the time , but going back to Christchurch it amazing teaching and scetching the types at the gate ... old C124/133 and LCs , they thought my father was retired ex USN ... he was only a simply bus driver for the CTB

Did special trips from the USNavy barracks to place just outside the gates of Wigram ... least 150/200 meter further south ..... Think a lotta Wigram boys would remember it a burger joint come restaurant called the "BIG TEX" ... bit like something outta TV show "Happy Days" cool.gif

That goose is so close to Keys and off the same mold , once a mistake happens its a "I don't recall" .... or he did it ... or Aussie polly's "Dolly Did It"

Infrastructure easy to move but if something go wrong .... you want the closet base , I'm very sure since both the the 1979 incidents, Erebus and the damage C-141- radio comm's change keeping emergency effort close at hand via control .. to well practiced but also the distance is the factor .
