I watched the live demo today on AirDailyX, and it was obvious that winter textures are not a feature. However I think this is more to do with NZSI, which doesn't really have an over-abundance of snow anyway. So it makes sense that Queenstown wouldn't have a lot of snow simply to blend in.
I suspect that Jon's screenshot might not be NZSI in winter, but just the short-term textures you get when it snows in FSX.

I would have liked to see a lot more snow on the Remarkables in NZSI, and NZQN needs to blend, as I said, so I wouldn't put any blame on the NZQN developers.
