Ian and I had a little multiplay flight/fight last night. Me in the Spitfire and Ian in the Stuka to see how Hans Rudle managed to fly over 2500 (or was it over 2700?) sorties during WWII without being killed (although he did lose a leg).

I managed to turn with the Stuka but was often on the verge of stalling and in the end I spun out and into the ground, luckily manged to pull flat for a pancake landing at the last moment so I could rise again to meet the dreaded Red Baron of Riccarton aka Ian W.

I thought I had better get in first with my shots as I'm sure that Ian had me in his sights numerous times as I kept losing sight of him - he deliberately mislead me with his position and intentions, not once, but many times. I'm obviously too trusting . . ..

Surely I have him this time?

Defending Wigram as Ian charges in to bomb the remnants of our air force . ..

Cunning blighter climbed steeply having me shuddering in a stall to get him into my sights

No escape for him this time

The end of my machine after spinning and a lucky survivable emergency "landing" .

Whew, at least I beat Ian in getting the pictures up . . . .

Fantastico sequence!
That was the problem with downing a Stuka eh?
They were that slow, you had to get the quick burst in on first approach otherwise you just flew on by...
I wonder: did a Spit ever get downed by a trigger happy Stuka??

When Forgotten battles was first out, i loved teh stuka, in those days with inexperienced pilots you either climbed at a slight angle to give the rear gunner a shot, or if high enough went into a dive which many followed into at there peril. But it was fun.

hey good shots Ian, I hadn't really realised that I had got inverted there, no wonder I ran out of steam soon after! I was too busy trying to weave around you slowish aircraft and forgot my attitude! Still, if that's what I have to do to down you . . ..

The trouble is that my excess speed left me a bit vulnerable in front of you . . ..
