The aircraft will be based at Whenuapai and Ohakea and will be visiting Timaru daily.

The army is conducting Ground exercise along with 10 helicopters the navy is pulling their weight here and there and the USAF is conducting daily flights. From what I can make out from the news paper the flight line will consist of Huey's, nh90s and some visiting helicopters two c17 globe masters(good luck turning them around on the runway) and the good old freight buster c130 along with un disclosed French aircraft the Timaru Herald states the exercise is to begin on the 9th or 10th of November weather permitting.

All I can say is its moments like this I live on the main approach for Rwy 20 biggrin.gif

The Exercise is to be named Southern Katipo 2013 and will run for a course of three weeks the exercise will involved the defence forces of the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, France, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Tonga, and our own kiwis. The exercise will involve 2000 army, navy and airforce personnel with 500 from going overseas forces.

The US will provide 4 of the 8 c130 aircraft and 2 c17 aircraft involved.

To be honest, I think that the US contribution was BEFORE their government stopped working.

so apparently a front page spread did not include enough information for the general public to understand that there will be people running around in funny green costumes and loud helicopters buzzing their houses that the news paper has Issued a public notice in the general notices section of the news paper. This explains that landing parties will be landing on the local beaches from the 4th of November. It also gives brief out line of the scenario for Mainlandia. Should be an interesting 3 weeks.

I shall post the cover story and the public notice later this evening.
