This aircraft is not for me... I find it tasteless and not satisfactory that the "Enola Gay" is included.

I disagree , its part of history , fact is one months B-29 raids destroyed and killed more than Hiroshima .. that was a continuation of 6 months i think the totals off Superfort raids equaled near 650,000 in that period , least one bomb each in three days stopped it further , one has to remember the 1943 Hamburg and later 1945 Dresden raids , course how many target from all and both sides .

Admiral Yamamoto's apparent statement (which was never actually proved or written down tho) sum's up what the Imperial Japanese Navy did to bring it on to a new level,..... "I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.",..well yes they did. The attack on Pearl Harbour was while both the US and Japan were at peace,...what a mistake a da make., ..and hey I dont condone war..it is stupid , a waste of millions of lives and trillions of dollars....just absolute dumbery. In saying that its interesting as I have the WoP B-29 and love it,..apart from the bumpety rivets and stuff on the Virtavia model it is still very very good and I have considered screening it in the past and the Enola Gay is naturally one of the textures,..I have questioned myself whether it would be bad juju to screenshot that particular aircraft and eventually just not screening it for some silly reason where I really should have because it IS history, ..its our human history and weapons on all sides of the fight have killed with impunity so its not like the Enola Gay is the epitome of evil, it was just one of many machines used to deliver "the bad news". At the end of the day the Japanese shouldnt have poked sticks at a huge and very pissed off United States and expect to win....now THAT is complete idiocy,..and they payed dearly..several times. sad.gif

Hmm It is factual , I've watched "Tora Tora Tora" and the "Battle of Midway" many many times , so that in the writings is correct tongue.gif , weather Isoroku said these things fact was he was estute enough to think this was a bad idea , So that would be a part truth ... were the words said , it known well he was educated in the US of A , he was known to get his own way in the higher ups in Tokyo .

War is similar to a fooseball match , one combatant against the other , frankly prefer to watch a historical doco which has more meaning or pull another book and research it than watch Rugby.. same old thing since when ever... two decades back lost interest but War has a meaning ... least if your not the one to start it !

"Hells end of the Day" (hate that saying) Think about it ... We are thinking about it so Much and Talk about in respect we give respect , well truthfully from me both sides , this is what make it one hell off subject and funnies ten years back i knew three Japanese , one particular was so interested in my interest and knowledge so we had some great sessions , she's now back in Sapparo , the funnies most don't realise Japan was an alley during WWI and its this year (100 years ago) both Japan and New Zealand were involved in Naval exercise's in NZ waters .. (1913 - 1941) a very short timeline so to knock a subject name which is now cool.gif

'Enola Gay' and 'Bock's Car' stand out as the bad boys , were do ya draw the line .. lets go back to Spain - the civil war... pre-war (1939-1945) - but Today everyone closed there eyes Big Thing about Flight Sim is having a go at flying one off these , that's the best part , airline pilots ... watch out for the Cheerleaders biggrin.gif

No juju AB , but i know what you mean , thats why i screened the non name side. Agree with you about the texture , and the odd lighting on the leading edges .
Its interesting to note , as you know i live with a few Japanese , and they all know what a B-29 is , even if they dont know a Cessna from an Airbus .
One of the kids living here comes from Hiroshima , and her grandmother was there on the day , that story has been recounted many times within her family.
But , as you said ..... the stick was poked .... just not sure about the responce.
Sorry to hijack your thread Ian.

All Good .. , fact is had it not been the Nukes ... it would have been incendairy and fire bombs .. just another return to a target .. fact was it was WAR without a Helen Clark or a Lange .

Regard to the aircraft name , everyone no's those markings like the white line down any road !

Hey ya Gav smile.gif , amazing thing is so many find this subject obscene, the markings in one area and a short one in WWII , Bomber 'Harris' equal the 'Le May' doctrine or word better "TREATMENT" as gone over board , BUT without the Balls it could not have been done .. they were given the job and did it well ! .. Great Leaders on the frontal side , fact is there were the Great Leaders on the opposite sides and many forced to the end due to the - YOU DO THIS OR ! .. some could stand up , others terminated .

Agree Kahu ... no less " tasteless and not satisfactory " than a swastika ..... or a star and bar to some people.
