...time to retire FRAPS. Which is good timing, as a week ago I upgraded my Win 8 to 8.1, and lost FS Recorder, which I've used for a while to make videos. So I've been getting reacquainted with FRAPS, and although it works OKish on my new system, it is still very laggy...
Now, though, we have Shadowplay, which is freakishly fabulous, although still a beta so there are a few issues.
Here's a quick look at it in action -- I've turned the framerate counter on so you can see for yourself. It records 1080P, at 60FPS. For action games, where you find yourself doing something amazing, and want to show your friends, it can save the previous 5 minutes (or whatever you set) at the touch of a button, but for FSX you'd be more inclined to use it in manual mode, just by toggling a start/stop recording button. It displays a tiny unobtrusive circle in the corner of the screen to show that it's active.
Some issues with the beta:
I could only get it to work in DX10, which I don't usually use. Still, a great reason to finally make the move to DX10!
Full screen only, no windowed support from the looks of it.
It records the cursor, so I've relied on the hatswitch to shift the view, whereas normally I'd use the mouse which is smoother.
...and of course it is Nvidia only, with some impressive minimum specs.
