Popped out to the Airport (nztu) this evening on my way home from school just in time to see the arrival of the portable airways control tower and a couple of airport fire trucks along with a generator or two.

shortly after 1000hrs the first RNZAF c130 buzzed my house in Temuka and quickly followed by the scheduled air new zealand beech 1900d and the quick departure of the RNZAF C130. Just now a second C130 has made approach for Timaru telling that exercise has truly began now we are just holding out for a c17

pictures to come later when the light out side cooperates with my compact camera

Bit of a grey low cloud day here in Christchurch , most of the activity would happen during the week would it not ?

tell me about it. we were parked around about half way down the runway. the bird had rotated as it got to us and was well established in flight by the end of the runway

The fence line was pretty well packed. As the airport was closed for the hour it was on the ground due to it sitting on the runway the demonstration was limited to around about 10 minutes leading through to takeoff time, however a further c130 has buzzed my house along with the beech since arriving home at 1515hrs. The c17 appered to drop troops a vehicle or two and a ramp truck to aid the unloading and loading of the further aircraft.

A shop assistant informs me after speaking to an army fellow, heavy aircraft are expected more so today and tomorrow with a few during the week.
I would be expecting more in tonight at the moment the action appears to come in waves of two with two aircraft within an hour of each other this morning and followed by the c17 and herc this afternoon.

going back out there tomorrow and also try to get out there sometime each day this coming week my main interest is the helicopters so ill put more time in when they arrive
I am not to worried about not getting out to the airport, as i can track what goes in and out here at home. Living in line with the runway has its perks.

any who i just put this on facebook not sure if you will be able to watch it or not how ever i did mark it as public so you should be able to.

The c17 crew loved landing in Timaru during the mid afternoon that they have decided they must give it a Go on the rest of the sun. I must say what everyone is thinking but damn that thing is impressive.

The c17 has returned
