Be interesting to see a vid off a water landing and affects , sure is better than the FSX or least appears so .

My only concern at the moment is the fact Orbx have a separate selection in their installers for P3D version 2.0. I hope that doesn't mean it differs too radically from the FSX default file structure as that could cause havoc with some addons. 1.x was never a problem, but the very fact of a separate option suggests something is different.

A long time ago I also asked LM whether they were planning an auto-updater for P3D and got a positive response, saying they were hoping to implement it for 2.0. If this has been included it'll avoid the need to rebuild everything every time there's a new version. Fingers crossed.

My understanding, read in an older ORBX post, is that v2 has a slightly different file structure (for some items) but also different registry locations. Its close, but not close enough to use the same installer. ORBX are in the process of re-doing all their installers, which will also mean a complete re-download of the zillions of GB of scenery I've already purchased. No charge though, as far as I am aware. Internet charges, if any, will apply of course. I'll avoid this by downloading over a period of time rather than going big bang.
Cheers

Thanks Jeff. Yes, that's true. I redownloaded everything when they moved over to dual installers. The updated packages will be available for free from your FSS account. They do have the additional advantage of being patched to the latest versions which can ultimately save some installation time. From JV's announcement on P3D 2.0 compatibility it looks like the upgrades to existing products will be an ongoing process over the next year or so which should at least spread out the pain of having to download everything again.

The only issue I face is that all my Australian ORBX stuff plus NZSI and NZNI are on DVD which the dual/triple installers don't support. I'll just have to manually kludge that scenery into P3D 2.0 when the time comes.

Guys, what do you all think about the pricing? I'm looking at the professional version rather then the academic. Does anyone have any shots of their previous version 1.4 with the water mark on the main screen and the different splash screen as I believe this is all that is different.

I'm interested too but I do worry about the buyer "requirements"....but how the hell would they know ? Do they have spys checking how we are using it?

Looks like its coming with several nice aircraft including the Iris F-22, Carenado Bonanza, Alabeo Extra 300 - would be worth it for just those.

Was also worried about card specs too - luckily I've just upgraded to the correct card...now we only have to convince Robin to make his scenery compatible...I think I have enough aircraft that will (or has been) made compatible...are Orbx charging to intsall their scenery into P3Dv2?

I just pointed this out in another reply to a posting you did about new sim's .... with all this new photo for the ground texture now begin t be released , the options really are now so varied .... guess the it all comes down to the "Smith V Jones" thing again ................... and HELLS , look at the whole picture .... one who still keeps producing for FS98/FS2000 Andre Lederer (Lionworks) ..... someone was talking about 'Balls' today ... "NOW THATS WHAT i call BALLS INSPECTOR"

NZD 3300 Steve, from Playtech Albany.
It'll be the 3rd one I've had from them; I'm used to NZD 4k for a flightsim computer upgrade, so I guess this represents progress...

If P3Dv2 doesn't fly I will donate it to the kids who weep that Crysis or whatever it is, needs this kind of power.
