I know it's not NZ apart from my participation as a pilot on one of the C-47s. A number of us from Aussie and England had a multiplay flight along the designated corridor from Fassberg Army base to Braunschweig to deliver much need supplies after the Soviet embargo of Berlin in early 1949.

Flight plan:

The weather was set as typical for the time of the year, low overcast, snow on the ground and a thunder and lightning storm with occasional rain. We set off in small groups at 60 second intervals and 500 feet difference in altitude between groups.

The aircraft were Manfred Jahn's freeware C-47s. Very nice if somewhat prone to overheating if you don't keep a close eye on things. Jolly good stuff old chap what.

Screen shots during the flight:

Had to watch for those Soviets though, they were trying to test our metal; however a stiff upper lip and a good British cup of tea saw us through the mission with flying colours.

Wah Wa Wa What ya talking about not a New Zealand participation , surprisingly many New Zealander's were instrument in creating the ATC for 'Operation Vittles' and something picked up'd borrowed then used for a decade later and one primary person was Christchurch person Ron Tait , was a regular guide at the Wigram Museum . ... strange look thru your history books and he will pop up , .. the beginning of Air Traffic Control in New Zealand was based from his experiences .
