Screenshot Forum Idea

Post and comment on screen captures from the beautiful game here. Home of the monthly screenshot competition

Postby SeanTK » Sat Feb 15, 2014 3:17 pm

Just an idea inspired by something I saw on another forum I was a member of years ago.

Open, honest, potentially brutal screenshot critiques.
I think it can benefit many of us to hear something other than "great", "looks wonderful" and similar accolades when there may be something to improve upon in an image. Members could voluntarily post to a thread (or make a new topic) specifying that they would like open, straight feedback on areas to improve. The objective would not be to respond with comments such as "this shot sucks"....rather, respond with constructive feedback: "Moving your aircraft to this area of the screen may work better", "try X with a different lighting condition", "consider your color composition here and here", etc, etc, etc.

Thoughts?

I think that happens own its or people do personal PM and help the recipient/screen person .. BUT some just simply keep coming back oblivious of what was said to them five minutes ago with a horrid screen .. I simply do the justice unless I see potential to not reply .... keeps my skin on and the horrid screen person thinks I missed his/her screen . ..... and they say I'm not diplomatic tongue.gif

I might just run for being the New Zealand President. cool.gif

That might have been here, I'm pretty sure we had this discussion.

The forum I was referencing was a different flightsim forum I specifically recall (but I'll refrain from naming it), but if this discussion was brought up here in the past as well, that's probably indicative of an idea that didn't work out.
Still, something to maybe consider depending on further feedback.

I agree Sean , i know i would appreciate some critique .
I also post on other forums , and one in particular is 100% "great" " awesome" to anything ..... who can learn when you are getting false ( but in a nice way ) feedback?

I can recall doing it once on this forum , i mentioned to a member that this (the screen) wasn't some of his "better work ".... i felt awfull , but he took it the right way , much to my relief .
Come on ..... the screenshot thread is one of the the most viewed .... lets raise the bar , pass on your thoughts ....positive or otherwise , in the end it can only help.

Just my thoughts .... have some screens inbound soon ..... start with them if you want .... you wont offend me , and maybe I'll learn something smile.gif

It was me actually. And yes, I did not take it personally. I tried to step up my game after that to be honest. Whether it's perceived that I have indeed (or not), it made me think about what I was posting. I would be all for a a specialized nomenclature in a post title such as:
"Bell 407 - Feedback Enabled" which is the key to unlocking the constructive critiques -- which by the way, I really couldn't imagine anyone here actually saying something in malice to begin with. this has to be the friendliest FS forum I've been to. smile.gif

And that is not my fault .... its those over there just behind around the corner trying to pretend they don't stop to pick up trash /thrash and that's only the Hamburger wrappings from the Asia dudes trying to find out how to make Whittaker's Chocolate with oversized nuts in it unsure.gif

There is a forum where too many of the members seem to be determined to prove their nuts are more oversized than anyone else's, but happily, it is not this one biggrin.gif

Well in 2008 as i was in personal big trouble, the welcome in this forum had helped me. So i came here to nzff.org on a more or les "regular basis" and most of my "Story´s" found the way to the other side of the earth. I am aware of the fact, that my english is lausy but I hope I can make it good with my screnshoots. But... critics are welcome. Learning is the point. If I see my own pictures from 2008... 2009 there is a big difference and not only because I have left the FS 2004 behind me. With the time you dicover the "Flusi" and you see its potential. That needs recogmnition and also... critics.

Marty, alcohol will do that.

Ian, shame on you for trying to blame a poor wee defenceless p****y.
