any way to connect dvi d to vga

Hi all
Progress on the MD500e sim is nearing completion so I’m turning my thoughts towards the visual side of the project.
I have one fully working sanyo plc xe40 short throw projector and just won another one which needs a bulb off trade me. It’s hoped that both projectors will produce the outside views and my lcd monitor will display the instruments
Only snag is my video card has 1 vga, 1 hdmi and 2 dvi d. At present my lcd is connected to the dvi d and the projector is connected to the vga
The projectors been the age they are only have vga and s video connections I know that you can get an adaptor that will run the older dvI I to vga So question is, is there an adaptor to run dvi d to vga

Found this in a post dated May 2012 at:

"DVI-D is digital only as per the 'D'. DVI-I is integrated as per the 'I' If you look at the DVI-I connnector, it has 4 pins around the flat blade looking pin. Those 4 pins are the analog signal. DVI-D connector is missing those pins so a simple adapter will not work as the analog signal is missing. You need a signal converter as joesden has mentioned but I am pretty sure you can buy a nice 1920x1080 monitor for the price of a signal converter."

So it depends on what your video card puts out. Take care - lots of snake-oil merchants out there

You might be able to get a VGA splitter/ booster box, one input to two out, pretty sure I saw such things but that was years ago and I don't know if they are still made.

I don't know if this any help but i know an adaptor that changes the DVI port into a VGA i assume you can still get tem from most computer shops i may have some floating about in my odds and ends box that i would be happy for you to have if they would help .

Thanks for the replys after looking around it seems that you can only get a DVI I adaptor to vga and as emfrat mentioned the four pins around the flat blade are analog and there doesn't seem to be a dvi d to vga.
I have seen a hdmi to vga unit which may be the way to go. The visual side of the project will be challenging ha ha

This is an NZ link...the question you need to ask is "Will this splitter support two 1920x1200 displays, or is the 1920x1200 output from my video card shared to make two 960x600 displays?"

Hi Rhys I setup a three monitor display for a friend a couple of months ago, I used two DVI and one HDMI to DVI from a GTX 660 - 2 GB GDDR5 - PCI Express so if you are trying to set up an extra monitor that only has VGA the HDMI to VGA should work OK.

My video card is a GTX650 with 1 vga 1 hdmi and 2 dvi d. I can use the vga for one projector and maybe the hdmi to vga for the other projector if it works.
I thought about the dual head to go but they are not cheap.. I have seen a free software alternative called SoftTH , at this stage is doesn't support fsx but given time hopefully they will add support for fsx.

Update, ended up getting a matrox dualhead to go on ebay. Great piece of hardware works a treat

With any luck this week I should have the cockpit fabrication done the panel shouldn't take long to finish and the visual side I'm working on between the other parts of the project. It's been six years since the project started and the end is nigh ( I hope) so photos asap
