Flags are important symbols, if you listen to the old RSA geezers you would be prepared to die for it, or under it
SO it must have historical geographical and cultural relevance.

Here's one that even uses the pallette from the existing flag:
(Kyle Lockwood Design)

But it's a little too contrasty, how about some verdant green:

Mmm some wag at the IMF once said: never do business with a country that has Green in the Flag smile.gif
OK how about that teal blend stolen from ANZ, then:

Too dull... here it is! a flagmaker's nightmare with graded tones (C'mon this is the 21st century, surely this is possible, and a world first)
Southern Cross (Historical as a navaid) and geographical (we are south)
Fern (cultural icon without favouring any ethnicity)
Blue skies and blue seas! (Just better than black)

Remember, you saw it here first... and it looks Nothing like the Aussie flag!

Now to go sell it to ANZ and the Brand is packaged.

I actually like that second Lockwood variant with the green you highlighted there, Charl.

Regarding the black aircraft livery, as much as I am opposed to this new trend of all white aircraft for seemingly every airline out there (it appears minimalism is the "in" thing now), I think they went too far in the other direction with the completely all black (pun...intended?) livery.

Needs some green/teal/aqua coloration in my opinion. There's no harm in being colorful, unless you're going for the "imposing" look.

from an operational standpoint black is totally cr@p! try looking for it on a dark taxiway at night in the rain even with ground radar you still have to look three times so anyone else in a busy cockpit with small windows has no show.

New Zealanders are known all over the world as Kiwi's so why not have the Kiwi symbol on the flag also.

That big beaked bird flies all over the world with the RNZAF so yes it will be recognized world wide as being from New Zealand

Well... it shouldn't work, not really... but somehow it balances the frame!
Go kiwi.
