Looking at the NZ current weather put me in mind of "Downwind" Gillan, who in 1938 flew a 335 mph Hurricane from Edinburgh to London at an average of 408 mph - so I might try something similar from Auckland to Christchurch, following the wind out by the B of P. The Hughes 500 looks like a suitable mount. Should be a good test for my FSreal WXlite, too.

As an aside, in the course of checking my facts, I came across this website, which looks worth further investigation:

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

Of course I really meant Howard 500, not Hughes - but I know you all spotted the deliberate mistake ohmy.gif

Well, that was an interesting exercise - the only thing that didn't behave was the rain, which clearly takes no account of windspeed.
