Wish listing .... again.

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Postby Splitpin » Wed Mar 26, 2014 5:54 pm

Is it just me ? or are we in a bit of a flat place as far as new sim product is concerned.
Im looking forward to the Milviz F-4 , but other than that , not much coming down the pipe .... so , for me , a nice Jag would be good , an F-27 , and behaps a re-vamp of some of the Brit classic's ... Trident , VC-10 ... maybe.
At the moment Im looking at the Bear studios SU-30 .... but not sure , and Im looking at the virtavia stuff as well .

Oh .... a nice detailed Wessex would be good .... and a wasp .... and ............

Been a pretty exciting year for commercial stuff though, and lots on the horizon.
I'm waiting patiently and looking FWD this year to the QWings 787, the PMDG 747v2 (never did quite get around to buying v1), the Enigma/Razbam 737 and ATR.

It gets a little sparse with new stuff, especially in FS9 land!
I get FSD junkmail and they offered a Navajo for a few dollars.
I bit, and now I swear I have every GA twin ever made...

Mind you, I have so much stuff, if I started from the top and worked my way through all 2,617 planes in the hangar, it could see me through to the end of my flighsim days...

Hehe, yeah I've been a sucker for the FSD stuff, I actually think its ok for the price, considering a number of their machines arent available elsewhere, I've got pretty much all of their stuff too.
The Navajo aint bad either aye. We need to do some kiwi repaints for it some time

Oh man, I've wanted a good FSX F4 for aaaaages.

Bear Studios do good work, Split, if you're undecided. I have their J11, J10 and MiG17 and they're all pretty good. I had the old J7 for FS9 but lost all my keys and that was great fun too.

you have the JF DC-6 , the DC-7 is very much the same just the fact this incoming C-47 is already been adjusted to such a stage and incoming with a Jan Visser photo-real cockpit.

I do wonder why PMDG even released mention of there DC-6 , no word for over that for 30 months course the other, a Dash8 300 but that's how model build go.

Not sure if Charl's file count includes all the textures for each plane...I am planning a major cull of my SimObjects\Airplanes, to strip it down the the models and textures I actually use, thereby reducing FSX loading time.
But then again, I have been there before, and all it really did was make room for more new planes surrender.gif

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

I went and had a look.
Marty, you are right it is amazing.
Probably time to stuff and mount the whole thing, and donate it to a museum...

28,599 folders, this would cover a fair number of variation on the 2,617 base planes.
Mike, like you I "grow" a sim and then flush it when it gets too weighty.
But I don't throw anything away, it goes in the storage hangar "just in case"

One of the reasons I love FS9 is because you can run multiple sim installs.
The "Main" sim is always a juggernaut, containing all the heavy scenery, hundreds of planes, and a load time sufficient to allowing brewing and consuming a leisurely cuppa!
But there's also a "No AI" sim for quickly looking at a new model, say.
And a military sim (you don't need pesky Cessnas when you are strapped into a Mach 2 device)
It all started when I grew the WWII sim and I decided to keep the whole thing.

John Young's Duxford scenery makes it into every install...

Oops there it happened again: sale at Area51 Simulations Super Huey, wonder what it can do? rolleyes.gif

So far, I'm looking forward to the following. Not sure if I'll truly end up getting them all, but they'll be nice to see:

1. Milviz F-4 Phantom.
2. Cera Sim AS365 Dauphin (they're doing the long-nose currently, but I hope they do the short nose too).
3. Majestic Sims Dash-8-Q300.
4. Carenado Hawker 850XP.

As for a wishlist of planes that probably won't happen:

Mi-8/17
Tu-95/142
An-24
Dash-8-100
Dassault Falcon 50
Cessna 207
Beech Queen Air

Actually there has been, in *this post* from Nov 2013 RSR said

QUOTE
It is EXTREMELY rare that we put out an open casting call for new testers- but we have a couple of unique opportunities available that we would like to see if you can fill:

We are inching closer to the testing process for the first of our upcoming PMDG Classics series of products. The first product in this line will be the Douglas DC-6.

Unlike the modern airliners that comprise our primary product line- there aren't many DC-6s left in the world, so it isn't a simple thing to collect a bunch of experts from various airlines and seek their input to enhance the quality of the finished product.

So- we are putting out a general call for anyone who can answer yes to any of the qualities listed below:

1) You have in your logbook PIC, SIC or FE flight time in the DC-2, DC-3, DC-4, DC-6 or DC-7 type airplanes.

2) You have experience maintaining a DC-2, DC-3, DC-4, DC-6 or DC-7.

3) You have experience flying or maintaining some other type of aeroplane that is powered by 1820, 1830, R2000, R2800, 3360 engines or similar.

If you can answer yes to any of the qualities listed above, then we would like to seek your interest in helping us to test the DC-6 and subsequent products coming on the PMDG Classics production line.[/quote]

Didn't bother with the 777, looking forward to this one and the 747v2 a lot ! Also remember that RSR bought himself a DC-3 a year or so back, so no doubt in due course ..........
