Yeah well I heard they were too - Majestic's been the only company that can acurrately make a decent Dash 8 Series aircraft - So I hope they do an updated version of the 300 with a nice VC like the 400

I'm sure the cockpits are standard to both aircraft, getting a 300 would not have taken this long , were I guessed it was only rumour.

Actually they are very different Ian, Glass in the 400, steam gauges in the 300.
Plus different power-plants, and obviously different length, wing-span, weight and distribution etc. I guess its enough to make it a separate project in many regards

Modelling would not be that much different .. lengths and weights can be adjusted and tweaked within weeks as for cockpit same aircraft just added modules... easy done .

Good example is the Canberra , nine months from the first build and three month testing , when modelling with GMAX its simple to reduce size .. take the fillets of the tail , engine remodel not an issue and animation already competed !

I'd say a brand new steam gauge VC for the 300 would be a reasonably serious undertaking tho at the very least.

You would find the programming/coding is already done , the animation modified and good quality texture, done ! all you need is a little art and flair.

You seem to be missing the point on the VC Ian, sure the engine properties will all be coded up and accessible, but every single gauge and switch in the cockpit would have to be re-modelled, and have its behaviour mapped to the aircraft model/data, almost nothing in common really (apart from Gear lever and indicators). Have a Google of some of the cockpit photos and you'll see what I mean.

No not missing the point, all very similar , yes the cockpits are different but dimensions all the same , weight and dynamics all simple engineering, they have a team working on little bit each - everyone is assigned a task or two the primary work is already done .
