Cheers Ian, just got back last night from our annual 2 week trip to Stewart Island.

Got plenty of veni, fish and paua. Sorry we ate your share as it was better weather than we expected so it would have gone off if we didn't eat it.

Rick my brother also did frequent Steward Is trips, the Paua, think i mentioned that last year and year and the year before that .... YUMMY

We were on the northern side of the Island so no birds in our patch.

Shared chopper with some of the mutton birders who were heading home, which brings the costs down a bit. Busy time for the choppers ferrying the traditional gatherers about their spots.

I was told its an acquired taste for mutton bird, I don't recall the shop , it may have been FRESCO's fish supply, looked more like a frizzled chicken.

They are very nice fresh not salted but to get fresh unpreserved ones is almost impossible these days

I guess its more off a delicacy, could you imagine a mutton bird farm - come the harvest - they all flew the coup
