AirNZ 733s - the exit begins?

OTP is more to do with the performance of the flight crews, cleaning crews and ground handling crews to turn a plane around, get it off on time and fly it there on time then the plane itself.

Well said scon, of course the "bean counters" were the ones to decide on the A320. ANZ is a business, at the end of the day cost is all that matters. I doubt the fact that a few planespotters would prefer a very similar American made product had much impact on their decision making process.

Let's leave the big decisions to the people that are paid and qualified to make them thumbup1.gif

Yet to see anyone in charge of anything who's actually qualified to make decisions about anything. There's a reason people get promoted, usually because they are too useless be be in operational jobs...

Well in reference to AirNZ, plenty of very well qualified individuals around the show, is all aspects of the operation. And in my opinion making some sound, good decision as of late. In fact the last 3 CEO's, going back as far as Norris (as far back as I know enough to comment), have placed our national carrier in a world class position. Ask Qantas how their aircraft choices have gone for them.....

Well aware also of OTP requirements, and can bet you that an extra 40 odd people to get on and off on a standard turn would make a difference.

Again my opinion.
But from my perspective and exposure ... again, the future looks good

On a side note, a 737 in Vinnies colours would look good to go alongside that groovy stab on the MRO operation smile.gif smile.gif

Doesn't make that much of a difference to turn around (Speaking from experience) if you have a competent crew and ground handling team who know their jobs and how to do them efficiently.

I heard that the last 737-300 ever built (ZK-NGJ) is the last 737 to be retired from service.

ZK-NGO has been recently withdrawn from use in March 2014 along with ZK-SJB.

ZK-NGF has been scrapped at CHC (Christchurch Int'l Airport) as seen in these few pics, sad to see this low houred, young plane in this state

ZK-NGF Parted out

Underside port side wing showing the rego

Front section

Middle section with engines removed

Rear section with tailplane and tail removed

Notice on the cutoff nose section saying that the aircraft is scrapped and de-registered and removal of parts is prohibited

Such a big bugger that these birds are leaving Air NZ's fleet. As they bring in the A320s the future is coming. Although, I am a huge fan of BOTH Boeing and Airbus.

Now with close up detailed photos , who's going to paint their FS model up like that ... one thing that gets me ... is this OSH cr@p , Its a totally inert not going anywhere hull and on secure airport grounds .. they put cones around the carcass .. I just to prove how stupid it gets .. they paint NZ on one off the cones to prove they are actually in New Zealand .

Me too, looks very damaged to me, makes me sick and wanting to vomit. wacko.gif

That would be a dirty, messy, drab, yuck, filthy, cr@p repaint for a 737 addon.

It's soooo sad to see the end of the mighty b737 fleet as they are 1 of my favorite if not the favorite aircraft of mine, but i have to say the Airbus is slowly growing on me. Oh did i say that out loud lolsss ohmy.gif

Taxying out last night at 2200hrs there were 4 737's lined up on the NZAA domestic gates. Haven't seen that many in a row for ages.

And for Ian, there was 1 lonely Jetstar A320 parked round the corner. smile.gif

Another 737 bites the dust sad.gif

Now also a B1900D (ZK-EAL) and a 747 (ZK-SUH) bites the dust leaving our fleet

Air NZ relying on Americans for long-haul aircraft and French for short-haul/domestic aircraft.
