NZMC Floating Runway

The official REAL NZ support forum

Postby ardypilot » Tue Jun 10, 2014 10:36 am

After installing the first subscription photoreal package, I noticed the runway at my NZMC was floating off the ground by about 20 feet.

Tried installing Mikes Mount Cook scenery- and the terminal and hangers sit on the terrain, but the apron is invisible and the runway is still elevated and floating.

I've gone into my FTX NZSI scenery folder and renamed all files that had NZMC in the file name from .BGL to .BAK. Any ideas on how to fix this?

The Mt Cook photoscenery doesn't affect the elevation at all. Any existing airport, such as FTX or Mike's NZMC will retain their original elevations. (This won't always be the case, if I include a custom airfield then it may come with it's own elevation, flattens etc. The first airfield release will include a simple Glentanner airport, for example.)

I recall that Mike supplied FTX compatibility fixes for some of his airports, I'm just not sure if NZMC was included.

I really, really, really wish that Orbx hadn't changed all the elevations in New Zealand, it does complicate things.

I do plan to include FSX-specific elevation files for airfields where they are needed. That's what I'm working on at the moment for the West Coast airstrips.

That's were needed is a complete fix package to bring the elevations back to levels following the MS standard. ..... I get this with a fave spot , I do have AFX , I may see how many small areas I can flatten for an experiment , Ashburton is as flat as a pancake yet now has small walls which are annoying.
