My understanding is that the 1900s are just too expensive to run on scheduled flights...

Eagle's days are numbered.

"1900Ds are expensive to run" spot on. as they only carry 19 PAX it can be a loss making aircraft and it is becoming increasingly old. Q300s are the real deal.

Even the ATRs is the real deal as well. So Q300s on the current Eagle Flights??? And ATRs on some Q300 routes.

I'd love to see some Dornier 328-100's flying around, bit of variety smile.gif

Bad news mate, Dornier has ceased manufacturing back in 2003 and is now defunct. All of it's aircraft is out of production which means that there is no hope for Dornier aircraft in NZ. sad.gif

I doubt they'll buy an aircraft type that hasn't been manufactured for ~14 years. My pick is that before long we'll see ATR 42-600s to replace the Q300s and perhaps a little more room for 3rd level airlines once again.

Really? But they are smaller... although I guess that is only choice if you want something smaller than a ATR 72

The CEO has talked about how he wants to move to a 4 aircraft type fleet eventually, B789, B777, A320 (Family) and ATR's.

My choice for a 4 Aircraft fleet would be B789, B777, 737-800, Q400

Now ya stepping up my ladder .. may have to reduce the Q s to suit the regions but the 800 , as ya all know a 737 dose have that Airbus's option .. ya no driving it .... its the loading that comes to fault , the 737 ground handlers were there when loading , because lower more accessible.

Nice dash photo Ham, I think the ATR 600s should replace the elder ATR 500s in our fleet rather than the B1900Ds.

Now we just need you to get a shot of this one! Grabbed this in WN on the way home to HN (so there is a connection!), average lighting but had to hurry to make our flight plan!

Is That to do with the Eagle job ad last year for B1900D/ATR Rated Aircraft Tech's?

It followed us around our entire trip! (mobile pics only, sorry)

Christchurch the day it was rolled out:

The next day in Nelson:

That night back at our base of WB:

And then in WN on the way home. A fellow member informs me it is now having a holiday at NR.

Cheers
